What is 'Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies' about?

'Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies' is set to take place in the year 1954, much before the characters of 'Grease' entered Rydell High. A recent The New York Times article revealed that the 10-episode series will explore several different themes that are relevant today, including race and sexual orientation. The upcoming musical series will have a more diverse and self-aware approach, representing the '50s.

'Diversity = woke= nope'

Several fans were disappointed to learn this information, particularly the news about a more woke rendition of the series. A fan tweeted, "Diversity = woke= nope." Another fan added their disappointment by noting, "I am once again begging studios to come up with something original." Another fan noted the deviation from the original movie by noting, "Grease is ICONIC, this sounds horrible."
