Golden Globes 2020: Jennifer Aniston scores Best Actress nomination for TV series more than 15 years after last one in 2003 for Friends
The last time Jennifer Aniston was nominated for a Golden Globe Award was for Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama) for her role in 'Cake' in 2015. However, her last nomination for a role in a television series was in 2003 for her best-known role of Rachel Green in 'Friends'. Aniston won the Best Actress in a Television Series (Comedy or Musical) that year.
The complete list of nominations for the 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards was announced by Tim Allen, Dakota Fanning, and Susan Kelechi Watson. The award ceremony will take place on January 5, 2020 and will be hosted by Ricky Gervais.
Now, more than fifteen years later, Aniston has once again been nominated for a television role, for her work in Apple TV+'s 'The Morning Show', which she also produces. Aniston plays Alex Levy, a co-host of UBA's eponymous The Morning Show alongside Reese Witherspoon as Bradley Jackson. Her co-star, Witherspoon, was also nominated, albeit for her role in HBO's 'Big Little Lies'.
Fans are undoubtedly excited about Aniston's nomination, also pointing out that her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, was nominated for his role in 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood'. One fan wrote, "YES! Way to go #JenniferAniston on getting a #GoldenGlobes nomination. Well deserved! #TheMorningShow ." Another fan tweeted, "The only thing about the #GoldenGlobes nominations that I truly care about is that Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt are both nominated."
Aniston is up against some strong contenders this year. Along with her, the other nominees for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series (Drama) include Olivia Colman ('The Crown'), Jodie Comer ('Killing Eve'), and Nicole Kidman (“Big Little Lies”), in addition to Witherspoon.
'The Morning Show' has also been nominated for Best Television Series (Drama), along with 'Big Little Lies', 'The Crown', 'Killing Eve', and 'Succession'.
