The Golden Disc Awards is a much-coveted annual award show, which recognizes and honors achievements of the South Korean music industry. Deemed as one of the most prestigious award shows of South Korea, Golden Disc Awards started in 1986. Last year, Grammy-nominated BTS dominated the award show, who will be taking the major trophies this year?

One of the main attractions for the award show lies in its tradition of highlighting the previous year’s best of music sales, both the digital sales and physical album sales along with an award for the ‘rookie of the year’. This year, YG Entertainment’s rookie group Treasure will be fighting for the Rookieaward with Big Hit Entertainment’s Enhypen, Starship Entertainment’s CRAVITY and more. Grammy-nominated BTS has been nominated for three major award categories while BLACKPINK nominated for the album Division Bonsang award.

Along with the list of nominations, the award show has also released their host list that includes ‘Parasite’ and ‘Record of Youth’ actress Park So Dam, ‘Because You're My Woman’ crooner Lee Seung Gi, ‘The Beauty Inside’ actress Lee Da Hee and ‘The Voice of Korea 2020’ host Sung Si Kyung. While Park So Dam and Lee Seung Gi will be MC’s for the first day of the award show, Lee Da Hee and Sung Si Kyung will ramp the stage on day second, a report states.

The award ceremony has also revealed the criteria for winning the prestigious GDA 2021. For major awards, the winners will be decided based on 60% based on sales and 40% based on the judges’ scores.
