There are a lot of ways we can describe the French movie 'Girls With Balls'. For one, it has a really great name for a project that is a slasher film – makes you imagine there that the movie carries a lot of substance when in reality, it is just another slasher project. Really, if you apply the saying, "judge a book by its cover", it doesn't apply here – you'll just be very disappointed. That isn't necessarily a bad thing though.

Written and directed by Olivier Afonso and Jean-Luc Cano (writer), the movie had its first world premiere at Fantastic Fest in 2018. 'Girls With Balls' is a slasher movie that follows a female volleyball group that finds itself stranded in the middle of nowhere after their van breaks down. What follows is essentially mayhem and how the girls get out of the situation.

Release date

'Girls With Balls' premieres on Netflix on July 26, 2019.

Plot

All-girls volleyball team The Falcons end up stranded in the middle of nowhere after their mini-van breaks down. Little do they know they landed in degenerate hunters' territory and the hunt is on. Thus begins a very long night where they must run for their lives and test their team spirit. But the girls are more resourceful than it appears. In the heart of the forest, the tables are about to turn between hunter and hunted.

Cast

The volleyball team is made up of Jeanne (Tiphaine Daviot) and Morgane (Manon Azem), captain Hazuki (Anne-Solenne Hatte), lovers Dany (Dany Verissimo-Petit) and Tatiana (Margot Dufrene), nerd-turned-warrior M.A. (Louise Blachere), the half-innocent Lise (Camille Razat) and the squad’s useless coach (Victor Artus Solaro, who looks a bit like a French Kevin Smith).

Creators

Written and directed by Olivier Afonso

Afonso is one of the most popular special effects makeup artists and has worked on 'Raw', 'Taken 3', 'The Diving Bell' and 'The Butterfly'.
