Kelly Slater: How much does the 'Make or Break' star make surfing?

Who is Gabriel Medina?

Gabriel Medina Pinto Ferreira, the world's top surfer and son to Simone Pinto Medina and Claudio de Jesus Ferreira, was born in Maresias, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Medina was exposed to surfing at the age of 9. Two years down the line, he won the National Championship at the Rip Curl Grom Search in the category Sub-12, held in Búzios, Rio de Janeiro. With each passing year, he mastered the art of surfing so well that at 14 years old, he landed at the finals of the Paulista Championship, became the Paulista Junior Champion, and surfed at the World Qualifying Series (WQS) 6-star event Onbongo Pro Surfing 2008 in Ubatuba, he defeated his idol Adriano de Souza, according to Wikipedia.

2017 was the year Medina's name was written in the book of history as he became the first-ever surfer to win a competition in man-made wave pool at Kelly Slater's Surf Ranch in Lemoore, California along with Carissa Moore. Medina was also selected to represent his country in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, alongside 2019 WCT Champion Italo Ferreira.

What is Gabriel Medina's net worth?

Medina's net worth as of now is easily a whopping $3.5-4 million. The major contributor to this surge in his net worth is his active participation in surfing championships and other endorsements. When calculated on a per-year basis, the 27-year-old surfer earns around $2 million per year. According to Stab Magazine, Medina was declared the highest-paid surfer in the world for the year 2021. His earnings are primarily based on surf sponsorships from major sponsors like Rip Curl, Corona, Audi, Ralph Lauren, Tokoro Surfboards, Matt Nabney, Samsung Galaxy, Audi, and Guaraná Antarctica.

The surfer currently lives in his home near the shoreline of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Talking about his ravishing collection of cars, he has a sponsorship deal with Audi and only drives cars from the company. Recently, the surfer had listed his $1.5 million beachfront mansion in Brazil for sale. The mansion spans over a five-bedroom, and six-bathroom space. The house was listed following his separation from his ex-wife Yasmin Brunet.

'Make or Break' has received an early season renewal and is set to debut globally on Friday, April 29. You can catch the show exclusively on Apple TV+.
