G-Eazy announces music video for single 'Hate The Way' featuring Blackbear ahead of album, fans say 'Finally!'
Rapper G-Eazy has a new single "locked in", according to his latest social media posts on Instagram. Titled 'Hate The Way', the upcoming track is set to feature singer-songwriter Blackbear and is dropping this Friday night, October 16.
Earlier, on October 14, G-Eazy teased the song with a dreamy cover art that features a woman in a red dress in a field. "It’s locked in 'Hate The Way' song & video tomorrow night with @bear," the rapper wrote in the caption for the image.
G-Eazy also revealed that the collaborative track is getting its own official music video arriving the same time as the single. "1 more day #HateTheWay," G-Eazy wrote alongside a preview of the 'Hate The Way' music video. In the brief clip, we see G-Eazy and Blackbear appearing weary and spent in a gloomy waiting room. Sonically, the preview only shares a few bars of ambient music from the track, so the pair of collaborators are keeping the sound of the song mysterious and on-the-low before its scheduled release.
Rumors began to circulate about the track as far back as December last year and it was seemingly meant to include late rapper-singer Juice WRLD, but these haven't been confirmed. So, for fans, 'Hate The Way' has been both highly anticipated and long-awaited. Fans on Twitter were quick to share their excitement for the track. "FINALLY," exclaimed a fan in all caps while another wrote, "I’m so glad it’s finally dropping!"
One fan shared, "I don’t want this I need this." A user wrote, "ready to stream so hard," while another added, "I belive in g eazy ft blackbear supremacy."
G-Eazy has been keeping fans' hands full with new music in 2020. In June, the rapper released his fifth studio album 'Everything's Strange Here'. The production on the record was handled by many prominent producers including Cole MGN, Dakarai Gwitira, Marshmello, Christoph Andersson and more. 'Everything's Strange Here' also features guest appearances from Ashley Benson and Kossisko.
Sharing the artwork for the album on Instagram in May, G-Eazy shared several details about the LP. He wrote, "8 weeks ago I didn't know I needed to make this. The world has been turned upside down and inside out — but a lot of us have had the opportunity to self reflect and evolve."
In a follow-up post on Twitter, the rapper revealed that he already has another album planned for 2020, a sequel to his 2014 album 'These Things Happen'. He said, "These Things Happen Too, right around the corner." G-Eazy hasn't confirmed if 'Hate The Way' will feature on his upcoming album.
