Fox's 'New Year's Eve Toast & Roast 2021' is not a big hit with the fans. Hosts Ken Jeong and Joel McHale, who have been close friends ever since their time together as Jeff Winger and Ben Chang on 'Community', weren't quite able to recreate that magic for the fans, who were quick to share their disappointment with the pair's incessant awkwardness.

Fans criticized the pair's poor performance, bad humor, general awkwardness and some believe that their "car wreck" of a show is the most appropriate way for 2020 to end.

"As if 2020 wasn't sad enough, @FOX brings us 3 hours of Joel & Ken's #ToastNRoast," wrote a fan, on Twitter. "So just because 2020 was the suckiest year of the past two millennia does that mean the fox NYE show has to be the worst tv ever broadcast? Who are these assholes and why are they on TV?" wrote another. "This is the worst live tv i have ever watched," wrote a third.

Not even the ever-popular Carole Baskin from Netflix's 'The Tiger King' could save the show, as fans felt her interview with the hosts was painful to watch. "Cringing through the Carol Baskin interview. Just accept that Tiger King was skewed garbage and leave her alone!" wrote one viewer. "#NYEonFOX special is awkward as can be. Had to flip the channel when Carole Baskin came on," wrote another. "The Fox NYE show is wild. So far, we have two talented actors grinning through jokes they visibly despise, singers who aren’t singing, dancers not dancing, drummers not drumming, Craig Robinson barely pretending he’d rather not be anywhere else, and now Carol Baskin?" wrote a fan. Another fan was simply disappointed that the two avoided making any references to 'Community', writing, "Jeff Winger and Chang are hosting a new years show. Disappointed in the lack of community references as of now."

Some fans, however, are rolling with it, finding something to enjoy in the pair's awkwardness, with one fan writing, "I’m dying watching Joel McHale roast Carol Baskin and her just sitting there not knowing what to do. Joel McHale and Ken Jeong are the New Year’s Eve hosts I didn’t know I needed." Another fan wrote, "#NYEonFOX with @kenjeong and @joelmchale is such a dumpster fire  it’s great. But like, in a bad car wreck way where you just can’t look away.  happy freaking New Years."
