Florence + the Machine drop new song 'Light Of Love' and the lyrics are just what we need right now
English indie rock band Florence +The Machine joins the growing number of artistes releasing new music under the coronavirus lockdown and announced the release of their timely new song 'Light Of Love' on April 16.
The new track aims to benefit the Intensive Care Society and is a song that was leftover from recordings that were done when they produced their last album 'High As Hope' which released in 2018.
Florence + The Machine leader, Florence Welch, shared a statement on Instagram with a dimmed red-lit pic of the track's cover art. She said, "It never made it to the record, but I thought I would release it at midnight tonight, as a little token of my love."
She added, "And to raise awareness for the Intensive Care Society, which provides care and support for the incredible doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals on the front line of this crisis."
She also said she will be donating all the income she gets from the song to the Intensive Care Society before she closed her statement with a personal note: "I love and miss you all so much. With you in spirit from South London lockdown," she wrote.
In the opening of 'Light Of Love', Welch sings a brief near acapella with only subtle chords playing on a piano-toned instrument. Starting out as a sort of poetical ballad, the song gradually adds a sense of musical light shimmers as layers of instruments are added.
The emotion elevates to the most climactic point which resounds more of a triumphant anthem than the band's common themes. The band's new song is certainly a labor of love in its tone, but the lyrics appear rather timely and relevant during the coronavirus crisis.
A message of hope and love using the juxtaposing mechanism of darkness and we can see why the band chose to release it now after two years!
