'Flirty Dancing': Octavius picks Megan for a second date over Mary Marie and fans have mixed reactions
Buckle up folks, there's a new reality TV dating show that recently premiered, and with just one episode in, fans cannot contain their excitement about the series.
Hosted by actress and dancer Jenna Dewan, 'Flirty Dancing' is a new series that premiered on Sunday night on Fox. The network calls the series, "part performance, part blind date".
The series is based on a UK TV hit series of the same name. It features two singles who learn a romantic dance routine and perform it together for the first time without even meeting each other prior or knowing each other's name.
For the first date they will not be able to speak to each other but just dance their choreographed routine which gives them a chance to see if there is a spark and chemistry between them.
On Sunday night's premiere of the series, we witnessed two couples give love another try without a dating app.
The first single looking for love was 38-year-old Octavius who is a performing arts teacher. He is a Virgo, a hopeless romantic, loves walks on the beach and romantic dinners.
For his chance at finding love, he had to learn two choreographed routines that were taught to him by Emmy-winning choreographer, Tyce Diorio.
The two single women who were vying for their chance at love, hoping they would get a second date was 33-year-old Megan who is a barber-to-be and 39-year-old Mary Marie, a fashion stylist.
Megan is a super sappy, hopeless romantic who is looking for someone fun, outgoing and with a sense of humor. While Marie, on the other hand, is looking for someone with manners with a protector vibe. She is ready to give this different way of finding love a try.
For Octavius's dance with Megan he had to learn a choreographed routine to 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough'. For his dance with Marie, Octavius had to learn a choreographed dance routine to Tyler Ward's rendition of 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody'.
It was a magical experience for the singles. Now Octavius had to choose between either Megan and Marie to go on a second date with. Though he felt Mary was very secure with herself, he chose to go on a second date with Megan because of her sense of comfort.
Taking to Twitter post his decision, fans had mixed reactions. While some agree that he made a good choice to go on a date with Megan, a few think otherwise. "Octavius had chemistry with both Mary Marie and Megan, but I’m not surprised he picked Megan," a fan wrote.
"I thought Octavius and MaryMarie had better chemistry but what does my single ass know #FlirtyDancing," a fan shared.
Another said, "Octavius said Mary seemed like she knew her worth and was confident then turned around and picked Megan who he had fun with. I guess he wasn't looking for confidence and a woman knowing her self worth. Just 'fun'."
"He picks Megan and she cries on camera during her post-interview. MaryMarie didn’t get chosen and walked off smiling with style and grace stating she knows she is a prize. Octavius, you may have your hands full- ijs. #FlirtyDancing," a fan wrote.
While another added, "Good choice Octavius... Keep dancing Marymarie. There is someone out there for you." Another fan wrote, "I'm watching @Flirty_dancing. So fun. It is so cute to see how nervous these people are meeting for the first time. Go Octavius & Megan!"
Since their second date, Octavius and Megan have gone out on a bunch of dates, according to the pre-recorded clip revealed at the end of the episode.
'Flirty Dancing' airs every Wednesday only on Fox. Check your local listings for more information.
