Grammys 2020: Finneas wins Producer of the Year, Non-Classical for 'When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?'
The Producer of the Year, Non-Classical award is presented to producers who 'represent consistently outstanding creativity in the area of record production'. Producers are awarded based on their range of work, and often will have participated in multiple other nominated works.
Pharrell received the award for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical in 2019 and was also credited for his work on Ariana Grande's 'Sweetener', which also won the award for Best Pop Vocal Album.
The 2020 nominees for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical included Jack Antanoff (who worked on Lana Del Rey's 'Norman F***cking Rockwell!' and Taylor Swift's 'Lover'), Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys' 'Let's Rock'), John Hill (Young the Giant, Khalid, Carly Rae Jepsen) and Ricky Reed (Lizzo, SZA).
Finneas, brother of Billie Eilish, won the Grammy for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical for his work on Billie's debut LP 'When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?'. The two collaborated on the song 'Everything I Wanted', which talks about their deep connection and strong bond that holds steady even through trying times.
Billie and Finneas walked the red carpet together at a ceremony that saw both siblings winning awards. Billie picked up Best Pop Vocal Album for 'When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?', making her the youngest artist to win in the category. She is also the youngest artist to be nominated for all of the top four categories. She makes her Grammy debut tonight.
