‘Summer ain’t over’ at least for the Verzuz battle lovers as the fans will soon get to see a brand new face-off in the form of hip-hop icons Fat Joe and Ja Rule. Two of the finest emcees from New York City will be clashing in the second week of September as announced by the official Instagram and Twitter page of Verzuz.

The latest showdown comes after a month when The Lox locked horns with The Dipset. Social media users rushed to Twitter as soon as the new Verzuz was announced. While many took the sides of their favorite rapper, a few later dragged emcee Ashanti into the scene as they made fun of her as to whose side will she pick since she has collaborated with both the rap veterans in the past. Speaking of Verzuz battle, the co-founders Timbaland and Swizz Beatz started the legendary face-offs in March 2020 where we saw hip-hop legends like Monica and Brandy, Snoop Dogg and the late DMX, Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, Nelly and Ludacris, Method Man and Redman and Alicia Keys and John Legend, among others going for the battle.

Fat Joe or Ja Rule: Who will win the Verzuz battle?

Taking it to their Instagram account, Verzuz announced the new rap battle of Fat Joe vs Ja Rule on Thursday, September 2. Fat Joe, who hails from the Bronx, will be eyeing to win the match with some of his chart-topping numbers like ‘Lean Back’, ‘All the Way Up’, ‘Make It Rain’, ‘Flow Joe’ and ‘Get it Poppin’ among a few others.

Ja Rule, on the other hand, will be hitting the stage with his impressive catalog that includes songs like ‘Mesmerize’, ‘Always on Time’, ‘Holla Holla’ and ‘Thug Lovin’ among a few others. The Queens native also has several hits that made it to the top 20 of the Hot 100 Billboard chart like ‘Between Me and You’, ‘I'm Real’ and ‘Ain't It Funny’. Interestingly, both the hip-hop artists worked together on a track called ‘What’s Luv’ that also features Ashanti. The trio got trolled for the same when a few social media users claimed that in the end the fans might see all three on the stage to perform on the song.

Fans have a lot of options if they want to enjoy the upcoming Verzuz battle. Fat Joe and Ja Rule will be coming under one roof for the epic face-off on Tuesday, September 14. The event will be up for streaming at 6 pm PT / 9 pm ET. People from New York can also hit the venue as tickets go on sale from September 9. For the folks hitting the couch, they can catch all the action live from the official Instagram page of Verzuz. The showdown will also be available on the FiteTV app and Triller app.

Hip-hop fans logged into Twitter as soon as the new Verzuz battle was announced. One user said, “With all due respect Fat Joe doesn’t have enough stand alone hits to go toe to toe with Ja Rule.” Whereas, another stated, “If Fat Joe come with same energy as Kiss he could win but we all know he’s the underdog cuz Ja Rule got HITS. Can’t f**kin wait to see this one, you know they gon collabo last song together.”
 
The next one posted, “This will be a hard one for @ashanti what team she repping lol.” One said, “Ja by a landslide. That bamma got hits for days. The features just as crazy as the solos.” Another individual tweeted, “Fat Joe vs Ja Rule Verzuz Def ready for the old and love ballad Ja to show up.
