Before we got the chart-reversal favorites Brave Girls and DKZ (formerly known as Dongkiz), EXID was the underdog that went from almost disbanding to taking over the charts with an old song back in 2014. Even new K-pop fans know that the fancam culture was popularized by EXID’s Hani after a fan-taken video of her dancing to ‘Up & Down’ went viral. The song went on to top all domestic charts and gave them their first million sales. And right until 2019, the girls continued to enjoy their popularity. However, most of the members left the label in 2020.

Fans were supposed to get their ‘Japan Live Tour - Bad Girl for You’ back in 2020, but the show was postponed due to the pandemic. To celebrate their last comeback ‘Bad Girl for You’ which was released in 2019, EXID was planning to tour Japan. With the members leaving their agency, fans were disheartened as they felt that the group had unofficially disbanded. The girl group’s last proper K-pop comeback was in 2019 with the release of their fifth mini-album  ‘We’ and the lead single ‘Me&You’. EXID then went on an indefinite hiatus during which they simply released two Japanese albums without any promotions.

EXID to have one last Japan tour

Well, on July 14, EXID announced that they would resume their 2020 tour to see fans one last time. Titled ‘The EXID 2022 Japan-Final-Live Tour’, they will be touring Japan in September. According to the reports, it “likely” will be the last time that they will be getting together to perform for fans. The girls will head to Tokyo on September 2 before performing at Fukuoka on September 6. The Osaka concert will be on September 8 with the last concert in Nagoya on September 9. We will also be getting a compilation album of 11 Korean hits in Japanese and 10 original Japanese songs that they will release on September 2.

However, with several older-gen groups reuniting over the past few months like T-ARA, 2AM, BIGBANG, among others, fans are confident that the Japanese tour will not be EXID’s last group activity. In the past, the members have often revealed that they never wanted to stop being a group. Member LE had shared that since they were now under different companies, they were simply trying to work out the best way they could promote as a group. The K-pop industry is also changing with groups like GOT7 and Mamamoo promoting together despite having members under different agencies.
