Evanescence announces 2020 album after 9 years, Amy Lee ‘loved’ having full orchestra for Fleetwood Mac cover ‘The Chain’ in ‘Gears 5’ trailer

It comes with much surprise and fan excitement to hear Evanescence will be releasing a new LP set for 2020. The idea of such a project would bear no withdrawal of exuberant shouts of excitement and headbanging for fans as the concept would have certainly been an anticipated fantasy over the past nine years.
The album will be their first set of all-original music and is set for a 2020 release. Evanescence's frontwoman, Amy Lee, has also worked on the song track for a trailer for 'Gears 5', the fifth installment to the highly-acclaimed 'Gears of War' game series.
The song is an intense, haunting and familiar Evanescence take on Fleetwood Mac's 'The Chain'. The one-minute video released September 5 features a beautiful juxtaposition of high-paced chaos and a post-apocalyptic setting over melodic, dark and soulful vocals, in the recognizable Evanescence fashion that many have come to love and distinguish about the band.
Originally started as a solo project, Amy Lee couldn't resist the urge to bring on her bandmates for 'The Chain'. “It’s something I (could) totally visualize as a band,” she says. “We all love Fleetwood Mac, so I asked if we could do a full song, and they were stoked about that. We took it and ran with it” Lee told Billboard.
According to Billboard, Nielsen Music reported, 'The Chain' has already hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Rock Digital Song Sales chart, selling 10,000 downloads and logging 963,000 streams since its November 22 release. With the gaming market at full steam ahead and rising high in recognition, it is a breath of fresh air to be hearing Evanescence's music in the mix and here's hoping that the group will churn out more interesting projects such as 'The Chain'.
When recording the full-length track for 'The Chain' the band decided to include an entire orchestra as their temporary partner, although the trailer features a more toned-down electric/synth sound to it. “Being able to take it all the way by having real, full orchestra is something that I’ve always loved,” Lee said.

The new album is still in the works as the band tours and works on side projects, and according to Billboard, Lee stated the band will not be releasing all the songs at once and will continue to add to the quality and content of the songs, with a possible change in producer on certain songs.
Evanescence has always stuck true to its evocative gothic alternative sound, but since guitarist Terry Balsamo left, the band has happily accepted female vocalist Jen Majura, who has added a new flavor to the group as a background singer. The addition of another female singer may very well present a great rendition in the upcoming album while sticking true to the band's spirit and unique style of alternative hard rock music.
