'Sylvie's Love' star Eva Longoria didn't know she would be 'singing and dancing' when she was cast in the film

"I didn't choose this [film], it chose me," says Hollywood actress Eva Longoria with a laugh, as she talks about her film 'Sylvie's Love', directed by Eugene Ashe.
MEA WorldWide (MEAWW) caught up with the actress at the Sundance Festival. When asked how she got this role, Longoria explains, "Kerry [Kerry Barden, Casting Director] called me and said 'I'm just going to ask you for a favor, so I'm not going to tell you anything at all'. I was like okay."
"He called and said that he was doing this movie and if I would be a part of it. I said yes, I didn't read anything, I was just like sure. Once I signed on, he was like, 'By the way, you're singing and dancing. There's six weeks of dance rehearsals'. And I was like, 'Wait, what am I doing ?'," she recalls.
"It was so fun, I don't ever get these roles, I don't get this opportunity to be in a period piece or to be able to sing and dance. This time period is so romantic, this film is a romantic version of the time period, especially for people of color," she continues.
Longoria adds, "You really get into that here in this film, and I was like I really have to be a part of it. I was so proud to be asked."
On how the film relates to the world today, Longoria says, "At the end of the day, it's a love story. We all live those love stories through our lives. Can love endure time?"
Longoria also has her hands full with directing and producing. When asked if she would like to see her work at the Sundance Festival, she answers, "Yeah that's always been a goal."
'Sylvie's Love' also stars Tessa Thompson, Nnamdi Asomugha, Ryan Michelle Bathe, Regé-Jean Page and Aja Naomi King.
