Eric Church teases new song 'Through My Ray Bans' and his message of hope gives fans 'goosebumps'
Country music singer-songwriter Eric Church has revealed a message of hope amid the coronavirus pandemic. In a two-minute clip showing scenes from some of his concerts, the 42-year-old 'Some of It' singer took to Twitter on April 18 to deliver a message inspiring unity and fearlessness before teasing an upcoming new song, 'Through My Ray Bans'. As fans would recognize from the title, Church's signature stage look is wearing a pair of Ray-Ban aviators.
His tweet with the video reads, "When the question of who will answer this call is asked, thousands will raise their fist and say I will, we will." At the opening of the video, we see scenes of empty streets, stadiums and musical arenas as Church says, “Where there once were roars, now there are just echoes. The handshakes and the hugs of yore are now too dangerous." He continues, “But I don’t believe in fear. I don’t believe in panic. I don’t believe, in all its complexity, this damn virus has any idea what it’s up against: the American resolve.”
Characterizing the coronavirus as "our enemy", Church talks about how to equip ourselves during this era and says "these halls will roar again" if we are "steadied by faith, calmed by song and healed by prayer". At the end of the message, Church says he believes "the best is yet to come. We shall rage. We shall roar" and hints at the new song. "I cannot wait to see you again — through my Ray Bans,” he says. The message is followed by snippets of Church playing the song while quarantined at home.
Fans were inspired by the message and are anticipating the days to come when they see their favorite country singer perform again. "WOW!! Sends chills. We WILL be back! Thank you Eric!!" says a fan while another says, "On my lunch break and needed some genuine American pride and goosebumps. You always deliver! Can’t wait!"
Among a stream of fans sharing their love for Church and thanking him for the message, one fan declares, "The best songwriter. The best at giving hope for the future. The best singer with a unique voice... no one comes close."
The country star recently debuted his new song 'Never Break Heart', at the 'ACM Presents: Our Country' special and revealed that he finished a new album during a remote recording session in North Carolina. The album follows 'Desperate Man' which released in 2018.
