VH1's 'RuPaul's Drag Race' bagged the 72nd Emmy Award for Outstanding Competition Program.

"It is an honour to make television," RuPaul said when receiving the award. "All the kids get to tell their stories on our show," the host continued. In his speech, he also addressed millions of viewers watching the show at home: "Kiddo, I know how you feel right now. Just know that you are loved... believe in love and the power of love."

VH1's 'RuPaul's Drag Race' is presented by RuPaul, who also serves as one of the judges alongside Michelle Visage, Carson Kressley, Santino Rice, Billy B and Ross Mathews. The reality show's tryst with Primetime Emmy Awards is not a new one — over the course of its 12 seasons, 'RuPaul's Drag Race' has seen 39 nominations and 18 wins.

The show was pit against 'Nailed It!', which is a culinary competition that follows home bakers as they try their hand at re-creating edible masterpieces. The show is hosted by Nicole Byer and Jacques Torres and executive produced by Patrick J Doody, Gaylen Gawlowski, and Casey Kriley. Byer is also nominated for Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Competition Program. This is the second time that the reality series is nominated for Outstanding Competition Program (the first time in 2019).

Other competitors in the category include FOX's 'The Masked Singer'. It is the first non-Asian adaptation of 'The Masked Singer' franchise and features celebrities singing covers of famous songs while wearing head-to-toe costumes and face masks that conceal their identities. 'The Masked Singer' is hosted by Nick Cannon.

NBC's 'The Voice' and Bravo's 'Top Chef' were the other contenders in this category.
