Elizabeth Olsen dazzles in bright yellow midi dress as she arrives for the 'Today Show' in New York
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: When Elizabeth Olsen arrived at the 'Today Show' in New York City on Tuesday, she stood out from the crowd in a vivid yellow midi dress with black buttons. The 34-year-old actress radiated beauty as she grinned at fans who gathered outside the GE Building in Rockefeller Center to catch a glimpse of her before she prepared to record an edition of NBC's well-liked morning show.
The 'Ingrid Goes West' actress wore bright red lipstick, a structured black blazer, matching high heels, and loose waves in her golden blonde hair for the event. During an interview with costar Jesse Plemons, the younger sister of twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen spoke about playing real-life ax killer Candy Montgomery for HBO Max's true-crime series.

The Return of Scarlet Witch: Elizabeth Olsen wants 'redemption' for beloved Marvel character
Elizabeth said her "main resource" for adopting the attitude of a "cold" killer was John Bloom's book 'Evidence of Love: A True Story of Passion and Death in the Suburbs'. She said, "It's the only interviews Candy Montgomery actually participated in after her trial." Consequently, she added, "It is really the only source that I have that gives me an understanding of who she is and how she was raised."
The actress, who is most known for her role as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, then made the funny remark, "I don't know, playing characters that make questionable decisions is something I actually enjoy!" Plemons, who is wed to the actress Kirsten Dunst, reflected on the "added pressure" of impersonating a real person, which he said must be an "unusual feeling."
Elizabeth described working with the Emmy winner as "great" and noted that they "luckily" had some rehearsal time before the shoot - a "luxury" because it allowed them to "really discuss" what they needed to. She said in jest, "We were kind of getting to know each other as actors and people while our characters were just beginning their affair."
More of the Scarlet Witch?
Elizabeth was circumspect in her response when asked if viewers may anticipate seeing more of her in the near future as the Scarlet Witch. She admitted, "It's a hard question for me to answer because I feel like more words are twisted every time I answer it." She said, "Hope so," but "I have no idea."
Olsen as Candy Montgomery
The premiere of her show, 'Love and Death', which is based on the true story of Candy Montgomery, a Texas housewife who used an ax to murder her church friend Betty Gore in 1980, is set for April 27. Montgomery was cleared of the murder charges despite strong evidence as the jury concluded that she acted in self-defense.
The 1984 Texas Monthly stories would eventually show that Montgomery had an affair with Gore's husband before axing Betty with 41 blows. 'A Killing in a Small Town', a 1990 television film based on the 1984 novel 'Evidence of Love', earned Barbara Hershey both a Golden Globe and an Emmy for her portrayal of Candy Morrison, a character based on Candy Montgomery.
According to Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content at HBO Max, "This is a gripping story about the frustrations and desires of two women in a small town that culminates in a terrible act of violence." Jessica Biel played Montgomery in the Hulu series 'Candy' just a year ago.
