NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former 'Today' show host Matt Lauer’s relationship with his new girlfriend Shamin Abas appears to be going really well as the pair was recently captured while out on a romantic date night in New York City on Saturday, January 28. During the night out the pair stayed close and held hands as they shopped on Madison Avenue.
According to ET Online, Matt dressed down for the evening in a hooded sweatshirt placed on a baby blue collared button-down and beneath a black sport coat. He completed his comfy ensemble with dark-wash blue trousers, black dress shoes, and a grey beanie. Shamin, on the other hand, wore a mustard yellow suit that included a peacoat, a black-and-white striped shirt, and a tea-length skirt.

Shamin Abas is a Welsh-born publicist and businesswoman with a background in marketing. She is currently residing in New York. Shamin “launched her eponymous communications firm in 2005, which works solely with ultra-luxury brands that cater to Very-High-Net-Worth and Ultra-High-Net-Worth Individuals, building an unmatched reputation within the realm of the affluent lifestyle marketing arena,” according to her official website.
How Shamin met Matt Lauer?
The pair, who have been good friends for almost a decade, began dating in 2019 after they reportedly met through a mutual friend. Matt and Shamin began dating in late 2019 after NBC executives sacked him following a series of sexual misconduct allegations that ruined his television career. After concluding his divorce from his wife of 20 years, Annette Roque, he began dating Abas.
Shamin Abas is currently 53 years old, while her lover Matt is 65 years old. On December 19 of the same year, the couple was first seen boarding a flight to New Zealand together. Abas, like her lover Matt Lauer, had been married twice before. According to PEOPLE, she was first married to a Detroit-based dentist, and later to nightclub mogul Frank Cilione. On the other hand, Lauer was previously married to screenwriter Nancy Alspaugh from 1981 to 1988.

Matt moved on with former model Annette Roque after his divorce from his first marriage. In the year 1998, Matt and Annette tied the knot. The former couple was married for two decades until divorcing in 2019. Matt and Roque split up came up after NBC fired Lauer following a string of accusations about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace. According to Today, Matt apologized in an official statement saying, “There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused others by words and actions. To the people I have hurt, I am truly sorry. As I am writing this I realize the depth of the damage and disappointment I have left behind at home and at NBC.”
