Much to the delight of fans, Sony has announced the movie ‘El Muerto’, which will be starring Latin Grammy winner and platinum-selling recording artist Bad Bunny. The news came out of Cinemacon during Sony’s panel where Bad Bunny made a surprise appearance. 'El Muerto' would be the first Latin superhero to get his own film in the universe of Marvel characters.

“To bring El Muerto to life is just incredible ... so exciting,” Bad Bunny said at CinemaCon. ‘El Muerto’ would mark the first Latin superhero to get his own film in the universe of Marvel characters, coming right after Sony recently announced ‘Madame Web’, which marked the first female character from the Spider-Man universe to get her own film. 'El Muerto' is scheduled to come to theaters on January 12, 2024.

What is ‘El Muerto’ about ?

So far no official synopsis for the movie has been released. According to Marvel’s description of the character, the character of El Muerto aka Juan Carlos belongs to the Spider-Man world. He was a super-powered wrestler who originally fought Spider-Man in a charity wrestling match in which he nearly unmasked the web-slinger before being stung by Spider-Man with a paralyzing poison. After his oppressor El Dorado came to claim his life, he was saved by Spider-Man, after which the two team up to defeat Dorado.

Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio better known by his stage name Bad Bunny, is a Puerto Rican rapper, singer, record producer, actor, and professional wrestler. His music is often defined as Latin trap and reggaeton. 'El Muerto' seems apt for Bad Bunny, who in the past year impressed his fans in his professional wrestling debut at WWE’s WrestleMania. Bad Bunny will soon star in the Sony Pictures movie 'Bullet Train' with Brad Pitt, Michael Shannon, Joey King, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, and Zazie Beetz. He was also recently seen in ‘Narcos: Mexico’ and has ‘Cassandro’ coming out with Gael García Bernal. He also recently wrapped his arena tour El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo. He is repped by UTA and Rimas Entertainment.
