'Dancing with the Stars': Nev Schulman stumbles through Viennese Waltz after scoring perfect 30 last week

The 'Catfish' host became the first-ever performer this season to earn a perfect score from all judges last week but his Viennese Waltz failed tonight

Nev Schulman became one of the first celebrity contestants this season to earn a perfect score from 'Dancing with the Stars' judges last week. So far he and his partner, pro-dancer Jenna Johnson, have had quite an impressive run on the show, putting up splendid performances week after week. However, on Monday's double-elimination episode, he fumbled, and the judges caught on to the flaws in his performances. 

For this particular episode, Nev and Jenna did the Viennese waltz to Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande's song 'Stuck with You'. The show began eight weeks ago and Nev had been juggling a lot of things, including the Season 9 of his MTV show 'Catfish' that he's shooting from the confines of his home this time. In a video that played before his performance, Nev was seen talking about how his routine which includes waking up at 6 am, working out, taking an ice-bath in 37 degrees water, as well as playing with his son Beau and then heading out to rehearsal with Jenna. Nev said that he has the same passion for dancing as he does for his family. 

After his performance, it was time for the judges' critique and even though Nev sold it with his smile during the performance, the mistakes couldn't escape their eyes. Bruno Tonioli mentioned that he saw a ring of confidence and that Nev was oozing charm and charisma during the performance. Carrie Ann Inaba said that she found it beautiful, elegant and flowy while Derek Hough noted that Nev moved with clarity and intention. However, this was not the only comment from their end. The judges also noted that his performance was a little robotic and they also mentioned that him stumbling on Jenna's dress was distracting for a moment and that there were a couple of other small mistakes throughout the performance. Their total scores for the Viennese waltz was 27/30. 

"Nev did decent but his frame still needs work and he just doesn’t flow as naturally and he looks stiff at times when he does Ballroom it was an okay routine but it didn’t wow me," wrote a fan on Twitter after his performance. "The way I don’t understand the hype around Nev like ... can someone explain bc they really do nothing for meeeeee," wrote another. "So glad I’m not the only one who seen nev had a mistake," read another tweet.

'Dancing with the Stars' airs Mondays at 8 pm ET on ABC.
