Live-action 'Solo Leveling' Netflix series has major rumor churning ahead of release
There's major news for 'Solo Leveling' fans. Earlier this year, the series producer Atsushi Kaneko teased major hints of what to expect in 2026 for the anime. A latest rumor doing the rounds now promises a big year for the live-action Solo Leveling Netflix series.

At the start of the year, fans noticed a job posting on the Filmmakers Community Korean job forum. The role was for a series set to begin development in April this year, and will comprise seven episodes with casting already complete. Speculations since have been about the series being 'Solo Leveling', although it's worth noting that this is a mere rumor at this stage. Byeon Woo-seok has been cast as the lead. "This document doesn’t specify Solo Leveling or anything even related to it other than being Korean, but it’s possible," a tweet read.
Despite multiple content creators and news outlets reporting on the story online, there is no confirmation from the job posting connecting it to Solo Leveling specifically. The posting could be about literally any Netflix K-Drama series. One X user simply speculated that it might be about Solo Leveling, and the entire fandom just ran with the news as though it was confirmed.
The series follows Sung Jin-woo, an E-rank Hunter, who acquires extraordinary abilities after a fatal near-death experience. As he evolves, he becomes mankind's unexpected hope, defending against threats from beyond the mysterious Gates. Per reports, the show will be co-directed by Lee Hae-jun and Kim Byung-seo, with Kakao Entertainment and SANAI PICTURES set to produce.
For now, what fans can be excited about is Kaneko's updates for the anime this year. "This year... something truly exciting might happen for 'SL fans'!! I'm sorry, but please, please wait just a little longer...!!!" his post on X read.
