'The Beauty' trailer: Ashton Kutcher reveals shadowy side in dark fashion thriller
Ashton Kutcher-starrer 'The Beauty' dropped a new trailer ahead of its release later this month. Based on a comic book series by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley, the series follows international supermodels dying mysteriously with Kutcher at the center of it all.
"I’m the greatest goddamn advertisement for the hottest new super drug that makes you effortlessly beautiful,” says Kutcher‘s character as he parties on a yacht in the FX trailer. The remainder of the trailer sets the tone as models die a gruesome death as FBI Agents Cooper Madsen (Evan Peters) and Jordan Bennett (Rebecca Hall) get picked for a mission in Paris to uncover the mystery.
Per Deadline, the duo's path "leads them directly into the crosshairs of “The Corporation” (Kutcher), a shadowy tech billionaire who has secretly engineered a miracle drug dubbed “The Beauty,” who will do anything to protect his trillion-dollar empire—including unleashing his lethal enforcer, “The Assassin” (Anthony Ramos). As the epidemic spreads, Jeremy (Jeremy Pope), a desperate outsider, is caught in the chaos, searching for purpose as the agents race across Paris, Venice, Rome, and New York to stop a threat that could alter the future of humanity."
'The Beauty' also stars major names in Ben Platt, Jessica Alexander, Vincent D’Onofrio, Bella Hadid, and Isabella Rossellini. Created and written by Murphy and Hodgson, 'The Beauty' is executive produced by Murphy, Hodgson, Peters, Ramos, Pope, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, Nissa Diederich, Michael Uppendahl, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Gitter, Peter Schwerin, and Jeremy Haun, who serves as a consultant.
Earlier, Kutcher spoke of playing the antagonist in the series. "I think every role you get, part of it is what you look like, right?" he said, according to People. "It's a very big part of what you're imbuing as the character. And so, there are roles that I've gotten because of the way I look, and there are roles that I haven't gotten because of the way I look." He also teased the show. "Without giving away too much, almost every one of us has an incredibly nuanced role where, in some way, shape or form, we're playing something that we are, or we aren't at any given time," he added. "It creates this underlying ability to embody insecurities that you may have, that you hide away and you push down, and you don't let anyone in the world see it."
'The Beauty' drops three episodes on Wednesday, January 21 at 9 p.m. ET on Hulu and 9 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
