'Spencer genes are strong': Harry, Meghan release Lilibet's photo, Internet gets dad vibes

The royal family hosted an 'intimate backyard picnic' for their one-year-old daughter Lilibet at Frogmore Cottage Windsor during Platinum Jubilee

It's cuteness overload because the Duke and Duchess of Sussex just released a new picture of Lilibet on her first birthday. The duo met with some of their closest friends and family at Frogmore Cottage Windsor, on Saturday, June 4, during the Platinum Jubilee and which caused some backlash. The family, back at the Cottage, hosted an "intimate backyard picnic" for their 1-year-old daughter, with all the decorations while Claire Ptak, who made the couple's 2018 wedding cake, baked a special order for the family.

This is the second time that her picture is released, the first being on a Christmas card on December 23. In the latest picture, the beautiful 1-year-old is seen in reddish locks, with a big smile wearing a pale blue frock. Prince Harry and Meghan remain "incredibly touched by the countless birthday wishes for their daughter," according to a tweet by Omid Scobie, a royal editor who's known for covering their lives for the past 8 years. The picture is said to be taken by Misan Harriman and is said to be joined by Zara and Mike Tindall's three children, mia, 8, Lena, 3, and Lucas, 1. Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly also joined the Royal Family with their daughters Savannah, 11, and Isla, 10.

Scobie tweeted, "For Lilibet’s first birthday, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan invited close friends and family for an "intimate backyard picnic" at Frogmore Cottage, Windsor on Saturday, June 4. Claire Ptak (who made the couple's 2018 wedding cake) baked a special order for the party." He continued his thread to share more information, "A spokesperson tells me Harry and Meghan 'remain incredibly touched by the countless birthday wishes for their daughter' and have also been 'amazed' to learn that Sussex supporters around the world have made donations amounting to over $100K to @WCKitchen in Lilibet's honor." 

The Internet was quick to adore Lilibet and also point out some striking resemblance to her father, claiming that nothing beats the Spencer genes.

A user was quick to notice that Lilibet looks almost like her dad saying, "Harry's genes are undefeated. Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos of your beautiful family and friends." Another user campaigned for the Spencer genes saying, "A beautiful princess! Her daddy’s hair and eyes, Spencer genes are strong"

The duo reportedly received some negative comments when they left the Platinum Jubilee an hour early, but fans seemed to be understanding after they released the picture and revealed the celebration plans. One user once again pointed out that Lilibet might look like someone else too, but the resemblance to her father is uncanny saying, "Beautiful babes all around!! Thank you Misan for the ADORABLE photo of Lilibet!! And, thank you H&M for sharing. I thought we were never going to get to see her. I was so happy to see her, I cried. She favors Eugenie & Beatrice as babies but, moreso, Harry. A.DORABLE!!" Another user said, "She looks like Diana’s sisters . Definitely a Spencer ... haven’t seen photos of MM family but sure there will be a likeness Beautiful child."

One surprised Twitter user said, "Oh my goodness, she is all Harry. What a cutie!!!! And I’m so grateful they gave us a glimpse of her." Another Spencer genes advocate said, "What a beautiful little redhead. Apparently many of the Spencers were gingers so her grandmother Diana, Princess of Wales' lives on through Archie + Lilibet!!"
