Prince Harry and Meghan Markle marked their much-awaited attendance at Queen Elizabeth II's Service of Thanksgiving event on Friday, June 3. The event was part of Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee held at St. Paul's Cathedral. For the uninitiated, this was the first public visit of The Duke and the Duchess of Sussex to the country since they quit as senior royals more than two years ago.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle landed at the event with their two children namely Archie and Lilibet. Queen Elizabeth decided to skip the event due to some “discomfort” she experienced on Thursday. Speaking of Harry and Meghan, the two were greeted with boos at the venue- a topic that quickly gained traction on social media.

Were Harry and Meghan really booed at Queen's Platinum Jubilee?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were greeted with loud boos as they left St. Paul's Cathedral on Friday morning. Prime Minister Boris Johnson too got booed at the event. Social media users, however, soon got into a debate as to whether Harry and Meghan were cheered or booed.

According to reports, the couple skipped a royal luncheon following the service. It is also being reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were nowhere spotted with Prince William and Kate Middleton. Speaking of the Queen, Her Majesty could not attend the event due to “discomfort” as an official statement read, “Taking into account the journey and activity required to participate in tomorrow’s National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral, Her Majesty, with great reluctance, has concluded that she will not attend. The Queen is looking forward to participating in tonight’s beacon lighting event at Windsor Castle, and would like to thank all those who made today such a memorable occasion.” The Service of Thanksgiving was attended by Prince Charles, Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle.

‘How lovely are those boos’

Social media users were quick to react to the Duke and Duchess getting booed at the event. “Boris Johnson booed - Meghan Markle cheered. The offices of the Express and Mail may have just spontaneously combusted”, said one user as another posted, “How lovely are those boos couldn’t happen to a more deserving couple.” Another shared, “You can’t (s**t) all over your family with false claims & lies & trash your country then think you can just swan back in without a word of contrition & expect people to be ok with it.  No f**k off because we don’t want you here!!”

The next one tweeted, “Meghan markle no, but the press says it was Meghan and Harry who got it. Take a look at this video, Harry and Meghan also got what they deserved.” Another added, “So Meghan Markle and Harry were BOOED AFTER LEAVING THE CHURCH! Hope Harry realizes  he allowed that wife of his to cause this! Well deserved  BOOS!!!!!” One concluded, “Boris Johnson and Carrie Antoinette got booed today at St Paul’s. And Harry & Meghan got huge cheers. Proud to be this kind of British today.”
