Korean fans claim that the general public, as well as TWICE's own fans do not know about their August comeback due to lack of promotions

TWICE is currently one of the biggest K-pop girl groups and is in the same league as other popular acts like Blackpink, Seventeen and EXO. In fact, they single-handedly raised the net worth of their label JYPE to 1 trillion won (~$815 million) in the first three months of 2022 with their concerts. It was also reported that TWICE had earned 50 billion won (~$38 million) in the first half of 2022 without any comebacks. They were also the first girl group and second K-pop act following BTS to have stadium concerts in USA. However, it seems that South Korea and many of their own fans did not know they were having a comeback.

Following their contract renewal, TWICE is set to make a comeback with ‘Between 1&2’ on August 26. Expectations are high as the girl group is known to put out at least one viral hit every year with iconic singles like ‘TT’, ‘Cheer Up’, ‘Fancy’ and more. Their first English single ‘The Feels’ had gone viral on TikTok and Instagram with even Western influencers and celebrities making use of the song. Yet, alleged mistreatment like not stocking up enough albums to give them a million sales to no celebrations for Billboard achievements and the bare minimum promotions have fans often angry at the label JYPE.

Korean fans claim no promotions in South Korea

Fans, in fact, wanted TWICE to leave JYPE after their 7-year contract expired and some were disappointed when the girl group re-signed with the label. The only consolation was that the label had shared in their press release that they would support TWICE’s growth domestically and internationally. Well, with Korean ONCEs surveying and realising that most of the Korean general public does not even know about TWICE’s comeback, the fandom is furious. With TWICE first and foremost being a Korean music act, they want the label to promote the comeback in their own country.

ONCEs took to Twitter to trend phrases like #DoBetterJYP and #PromoteTWICE. Fans left comments like, “Have seen K-ONCEs COMPLAINING ABOUT THINGS THAT MATTERS❣️PLEASE DO SOMETHING!” Another shared, “We ask @jypnation @JYPETWICE to please PROMOTE TWICE's NEW ALBUM & SONGS PROPERLY not just GLOBALLY but even DOMESTICALLY so that many people will know and will be able to support them.” One pointed out, “Can JYP Entertainment do this back for #BETWEEN1and2 and #TalkThatTalk? Most ONCES doesn’t even know that @JYPETWICE is coming back this August 26th. Having Subway ads as promotion will help TWICE a lot PLEASE DO YOUR JOB @jypnation!”

'This is even worse'

Fans are questioning why JYPE is not promoting one of the most popular K-pop girl groups TWICE. One fan tweeted, “How can jype not even promote twice's cb domestically? they're the ones that are currently paying the bills in that company; the very least they could do is treat them well.” Another ONCE commented, “The difference?THE FACT THAT THEY POSTED THE TIMETABLE 3HRS LATE? We ask @jypnation @JYPETWICE to please PROMOTE TWICE's NEW ALBUM & SONGS PROPERLY not just GLOBALLY but even DOMESTICALLY so that many people will know and will be able to support them.”

One fan posted, “TWICE has gained 50 billion won in just half of this year. What's the reason why jype can't promote them well enough. Friday release means they're aiming for western charts, and yet you see no promotion in there.” Another shared, “If you aren’t worried for now, idk anymore 😭 koreans dont know twice will cb, global promotions in question with that mtv live out performance. Yet jype mentioned in the contract renewal announcement to do its part for twice to become the top global girl group with this plan?”

One fan wrote, “Why the fk did Twice renew if you are just giving them same promotion from last Twice cb? HECK MAYBE THIS IS EVEN WORSE.” Another ONCE asked, “Only TWICE members and #ONCE are promoting the upcoming cb. What’s the whole company and that div3 is doing?? Their star group is making the 1st comeback after contract renewal and they’re so silent about this, why???”
