Though her take on the doctor is popular, there are still those who aren't comfortable having a woman in the role but Whittaker says this doesn't really affect her

If you were worried the Thirteenth Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) might not be around for another season of 'Doctor Who', worry no more. The first female doctor may have divided the fanbase when she first arrived but she is here to stay, for now.

"Yes, I’m doing another season," Whittaker confirmed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "That might be a massive exclusive that I'm not supposed to say, but it's unhelpful for me to say (I don't know) because it would be a massive lie! I absolutely adore it. At some point, these shoes are going to be handed on, but it's not yet. I'm clinging on tight!”

The 37-year-old 'Broadchurch' star's career has really taken off since she took on the iconic role of the Doctor and she ranks among the most popular actors to play the Time Lord/Lady. That has obviously changed her life in many ways.

"I wear a baseball cap on the tube or on the subway," she quipped. "But really, my life has changed in a wonderful sense. I've got a massive social life now, which is either the people that work in our very tight-knit family in Cardiff (where the show is filmed) or a load of Whovians who are lovely to you when you walk past them."

Though her take on the doctor has become extremely popular, there are still those who aren't exactly comfortable having a woman in the role. But Whittaker revealed that this doesn't really affect her as she makes a conscious effort not to get too bogged down by what other people think.

"I've seen loads of fan art, which I always love," she said. "But it's never been that great for me to immerse myself in noise that you can't control, good or bad. I think both are a rabbit hole that you shouldn't necessarily go down. We know that we work really hard for the show to be the best it can be in this moment. Once it's out in the ether, how people feel, in a way, is kind of irrelevant."

The Thirteenth Doctor will return in another episode of 'Doctor Who', airing on BBC America on January 26.
