'Doctor Who' Season 12 Episode 6: The Doctor and her companions go on a global quest to quell an alien threat
It might be hard for 'Doctor Who' to top the fifth episode of its Season 12 which included the return of former Torchwood member Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) after a decade and also introduced a second Doctor (Jo Martin) -- played by a black woman for the first time in the show's nearly six-decade-old history.
However, as they say, the show must go on and it will. 'Doctor Who' returns with the sixth episode this Sunday, titled 'Praxeus' and we are back in 21st-century Earth. It's going to be a tour around the world as the Doctor and her companions go globetrotting to investigate the strange goings-on this time around.
There is, of course, a new alien threat which is tied together by a missing astronaut in the Indian Ocean, a bird behaving strangely in Peru, and a US naval officer washing up on a Madagascar beach.
The Doctor (Jodie Whittaker), Yaz (Mandip Gill), Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Graham (Bradley Walsh) split up at the beginning of the episode to investigate these mysterious events. Soon the mystery deepens and lives are put at risk as the Doctor and her companions face a deadly race against time to save humanity.
In the promo for the episode, we see the Doctor running across a beach -- cue the jokes about Whittaker running across beaches again as she did in 'Broadchurch' -- to a body washed up on the shore. In a voiceover, she says, "Two identical deaths on two different continents. It's even more dangerous than I thought."
There is also a terrifying shot of a woman with white eyes and what looks like claws growing from the sides of her face. One thing's for sure, the episode will include some terrifying moments.
'Doctor Who' Season 12 Episode 6, 'Praxeus' will air on BBC America on Sunday at 8/7c.
