Do Amore on 'Shark Tank': What is the cost and how you can solve world's water crisis by buying jewelry
Leonardo Di Caprio's hit movie 'Blood Diamond' drew the world's attention to the unethically sourced diamonds and the unsaid atrocities experienced by the miners behind mining the priceless stone. While many have since then turned to buy ethically sourced diamonds and jewelry for their big day, Krish Himmatramka, the founder of jewelry brand 'Do Amore', went a step ahead and is attempting to not only sell ethically sourced diamonds and jewelry but also end the world's water crisis.
Himmatramka will be making his big debut on the upcoming episode 16 of 'Shark Tank's Season 13, where he will be pitching his ethical jewelry line to the Sharks- Mark Cuban, Kevin O’Leary, Lori Greiner, Barbara Corcoran and Guest Shark Daniel Lubetzky. What is Do Amore?
'Do Amore' is a Latin word that means 'I give with love', and Krish Himmatramka's ethical jewelry brand does precisely that. Do Amore is a range of ethically crafted rings and jewelry that not only brings joy to the buyer but also helps in addressing the world's alarmingly growing water crisis. With every sale of a ring/ jewelry, a portion of the proceeds go towards building a water well for a community in a developing country.
The brand's website states, "Every Do Amore ring, no matter the price, helps alleviate the world water crisis. This is because with each purchase, our customers provide a person in need access to clean water. And fortunately, many customers share their ring’s story with family and friends! This allows us to allocate marketing spend towards water projects. With this model, we can make a huge impact in the world, while running a sustainable and competitive business."
If you're wondering where the jewelry is sourced from, then we got you covered. The brand sources all its diamonds from mines in Canada, Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa. The brand also recently suspended all its Russian diamond purchases in light of the recent invasion of Ukraine by Russia. The brand also sells lab-made diamonds. Do Amore is a signee of 'No Dirty Gold' as well, a campaign that supports the efforts of groups working to end dirty gold mining practices, and has a set of golden rules for retailers. "As part of this commitment to the environment, all of our rings are made from recycled precious metals that come from suppliers who do not deal with the international mining community. Mining of precious metals can be environmentally destructive, and many mines operate with a disregard for the indigenous peoples and humane practices," the brand's website states. So when you buy Do Amore jewelry you can be assured that you're not only buying ethically sourced and manufactured jewelry but also helping the world!
Who is the founder?
Krish Himmatramka is the founder of Do Amore. "While working on an oil drilling rig, I learned how easy it is to drill for water compared to oil. I saw that we would hit water within a few hours of drilling, but it took weeks to get to oil. So after a few months, I decided I couldn’t drill any more oil wells knowing that there were people in the world dying from lack of clean water. And I knew it was a problem I could potentially help solve," he shared on the brand's website.
"During this time, I was also shopping for an ethical engagement ring for my girlfriend. However, the concept of buying a ring with symbolic meaning, but questionable ethics, troubled me. So I decided that when I proposed, I would give my girlfriend an ethical ring that served a purpose: drilling a water well for a village. To me, there’s nothing more meaningful in this world than helping people in need. So with our proposal, Do Amore was born," he explained.
What is the cost and where to buy Do Amore from?
The cost of Do Amore rings and jewelry depends upon the type and size of the diamonds or stones, and the metal it is set in, and the design of the jewelry as well. The also have a s[ecially curated section of rings that cost under $3000, aside from their regular collection.
You can purchase your very own Do Amore ring from the brand's website here. The brand's jewelry has received several glowing reviews from its patrons. A customer shared, "As soon as I learned about Do Amore, I knew it was the one. My partner works hard spending most of her free time volunteering with the Refugee Health Alliance to help bring medical care and basic health resources, like potable water to prevent dehydration, to asylum seekers waiting in Tijuana, Mexico. She would feel bad about spending a lot of money on a ring rather than donating that money. So Do Amore was perfect as it allowed us to have a ring and donate to bring clean water to other countries. When I told her the story of the Do Amore ring, she was very excited and said it was the perfect ring for her."
Where is Do Amore now?
The brand dropped its new collection of rings earlier this year in January. On their Instagram page, the brand announced, "Say hello to the newest rings in our collection! Which one do you love?!💍"
Who will steal the deal?
Kevin O'Leary or Daniel Lubetzky might steal the deal. Although the brand's sales numbers and profit margins will ultimately be the major deciding factor for the sharks on whether to invest in the business or not. So, we will just have to wait and watch to see if the Sharks even make a deal.
