Disney’s latest family-oriented animation drama ‘Encanto’ is winning hearts all over the world, especially because its characters resemble real-life people. While the Disney fans are gushing over the lead character Mirabel Madrigal, voiced by Stephanie Beatriz, Luisa Madrigal is another fan favorite character who is getting great word of mouth reviews from those who have seen the film.
 
Luisa Madrigal aka “the buff lady” is Mirabel's second oldest sister in ‘Encanto’ and she clearly stands out in the animation film because of her physical appearance. She has been described as someone who has the biggest biceps in Disney history, carries all the burdens but never complains. In the film, Luisa Madrigal is gifted with superhuman strength but harbors a lot of anxiety. A new song featuring Luisa Madrigal called ‘Surface Pressure’ was released by Disney on December 24, where she can be seen encouraging the character of Mirabel Madrigal. Who voices Luisa Madrigal from ‘Encanto’?

Luisa Madrigal’s character in ‘Encanto’ has been voiced by Jessica Darrow. The actress hails from America but also has Cuban roots. The talented actress was born in 1995 in Florida and studied theater at Shakespeare's Globe Theater in London for 5 months. She later graduated from Rutgers University in acting. Darrow has currently shifted her base to New York City. The actress currently enjoys nearly 10K followers on Instagram and her bio on the photo-sharing app reads, “Mahalo from the hardest act to follow. Luisa Madrigal @encantomovie.”

Jared Bush, one of the directors of ‘Encanto’ told the website Remezcla about the importance of putting the character of a giant woman in the movie. He said, “One of the benefits of putting a giant extended family on screen was that there are so many different types of people, certainly in this large family from Colombia, where there’s naturally this amazing mix between European and Indigenous and African [communities] coming in together as one family. We definitely wanted to put that across on screen.” Bush added, “And it shows in the way that this blended family looks, from their hair to their clothes, skin tone, and body types. It’s different than what we’re used to seeing on our screens but it’s also the reality of the world we live in today and something we should see more of.”

Social media users could not get enough of Luisa Madrigal’s character in the movie. While praising the role, one user stated, “I think Luisa from Encanto is pretty neat.” Another stated, “Yooo #Encanto is such a fun movie, I loved it. Luisa is best girl.”  One added, “Finally watched Encanto. Obsessed with only Bruno and Luisa. Really says a lot about Society.”
