'Encanto' Ending Explained: Mirabel saves the Madrigal family magic in Disney flick
Disney movies are known for leaving you with that warm, fuzzy feeling, and its latest offering 'Encanto' is no different. The movie documents the lives of the Madrigal family, who hail from a small town named Encanto in Colombia. What sets this family apart is the magical powers that each of the family members possesses.
From shapeshifting to healing powers, each of the Madrigal family members has a unique gift, except for Mirabel (voiced by Stephanie Beatriz). Although Mirabel doesn't receive any magical powers when she comes of age, for reasons undisclosed, she still goes out of her way trying to help out her family. Despite Mirabel's best efforts to help her family, her attempts aren't appreciated by her Abuela Alma (María Cecilia Botero), the family matriarch. The Madrigal family tries really hard to portray a picture of perfection to the whole town by showcasing their unique gifts and helping them whenever needed, but underneath the perfection is the immense pressure and stress that every Madrigal family member is under. To make things worse, the family's magical powers seem to be waning and their home begins to develop cracks.
