Disney movies are known for leaving you with that warm, fuzzy feeling, and its latest offering 'Encanto' is no different. The movie documents the lives of the Madrigal family, who hail from a small town named Encanto in Colombia. What sets this family apart is the magical powers that each of the family members possesses.

From shapeshifting to healing powers, each of the Madrigal family members has a unique gift, except for Mirabel (voiced by Stephanie Beatriz). Although Mirabel doesn't receive any magical powers when she comes of age, for reasons undisclosed, she still goes out of her way trying to help out her family. Despite Mirabel's best efforts to help her family, her attempts aren't appreciated by her Abuela Alma (María Cecilia Botero), the family matriarch. The Madrigal family tries really hard to portray a picture of perfection to the whole town by showcasing their unique gifts and helping them whenever needed, but underneath the perfection is the immense pressure and stress that every Madrigal family member is under. To make things worse, the family's magical powers seem to be waning and their home begins to develop cracks.

When Mirabel notices the cracks and realizes that her family and magic might be in danger, she takes it upon herself to protect them both. She does everything in her power to save the magic, but unfortunately, this further upsets her Abuela who feels that Mirabel is causing a lot more problems. Mirabel and Abuela end up exchanging some heated words, which ends with their family home collapsing and the family's magical candle getting extinguished.

Mirabel then runs away leaving her family behind and begins to blame herself for the family losing their home and magic. Abuela finds Mirabel and apologizes to her, and explains the circumstances that led to the Madrigal family being blessed with the gift of magic. After learning about all the pain and hardships that her grandmother had to endure throughout her life, Mirabel feels sorry for her Abuela and the two of them hug it out. They decide to rebuild their home and start afresh.

The whole town pitches in to help the Madrigal family rebuild their home. Considering it's a Disney movie, you can rest assured that we get our happily-ever-after ending. So, once the house is rebuilt, the Madrigal family asks Mirabel to add the final finishing touch by installing a doorknob to the main door. When Mirabel tries to put in the doorknob, suddenly the magical candle once again lights up, and everybody gets back their magical powers. This beautiful, musical Disney movie is a definite must-watch for both kids and adults alike.

'Encanto' is available for streaming on Disney+.
