It was her taxes that caused all her financial problems.She had reportedly around $7 million of unpaid taxes. The IRS claimed that from 1990 to 2008, Warwick failed to pay any income tax. Warwick had blamed her previous manager for the mismanagement.
Before her battles with the IRS, it seems Warwick also had issues with the state of California. In 2007, the state named her as one of the state’s worst tax debtors, an honor she shared with Airplane! star and convicted criminal O.J. Simpson. She reportedly owed the state around $2.67 million and was working on a repayment plan.
