'Dickinson' Season 2: Meet Finn Jones, Pico Alexander, Nick Kroll and all the new faces of the Apple TV comedy

Many cast members will reprise their roles while some stellar actors will join the show, which is about the rebel of a poet, Emily Dickinson

Apple TV+ series 'Dickinson' is a 30-minute episodic comedy that stars Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld as it shines a light on the rebel of a poet, Emily Dickinson. It speaks of society, gender and family from the perspective of its protagonist Dickinson and is created, written and executive produced by Alena Smith and Hailee Steinfeld. Since the release of the first season on AppleTV+ in November 2019, fans have been waiting for the second installment for a while now. The good news is that Season 2 of 'Dickinson' releases globally on Apple TV+ on January 8, 2021.

The first three episodes will drop on the day of the release and will be followed by a weekly episode on Fridays. On December 11, the trailer for the new season brought some sparks promising an exciting new season as Emily deals with fame and her life as an "influencer". Here is the cast bringing us the second season of this dark comedy, and while some are reprising their roles, some are new faces.

Many of the cast members will reprise their roles such as Hailee Steinfeld as Emily Dickinson, Adrian Blake Enscoe as Austin Dickinson, Jane Krakowski as Emily Norcross Dickinson, Toby Huss as Edward Dickinson, Ella Hunt as Sue Gilbert, Anna Baryshnikov as Lavinia Dickinson, and Wiz Khalifa as Death. Returning actors such as Sophie Zucker as Abby, Gus Birney as Jane Humphreys and Kevin Yee as Toshiaki also make appearances. Many others too will recur on the show, along with some new faces. 

Matt Lauria as Ben Newton

Lauria is known for his roles as Ryan Wheeler in 'Kingdom' (2014-2017), Luke Cafferty in 'Friday Night Lights' (2009-2011), Ryan York in 'Parenthood' (2012-2015) and Major Gary Cutworth in 'Shaft' (2019). His recent works include 'Miss Bala' (2019), the TV series 'Into the Dark' (2019), 'Tell me a Story' (2019-2020) and 'Little Birds' (2020). He also has a release titled 'To Leslie' that is now in post-production. In 2010. the actor was also nominated for a Gold Derby TV Award for Ensemble of the Year for 'Friday Night Lights' which he shared with his castmates.

Mulaney is known for his voice role as Spider-Ham in 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' (2018) and 'Spider-Ham: Caught in a Ham' (2019). He's is also a writer and his credits include 'John Mulaney: Kid Gorgeous at Radio City (2018), 'John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch Bunch' (2019) and 'Late Night with Seth Meyers' (2020). As an actor, his recent works include 'The Simpsons' (2019) and 'Big Mouth' (2017-2021). He also has one release titled 'Cinderella' (2021) in post-production and another release titled 'Chip 'n' Dale: Rescue Rangers' in pre-production (2022).

Finn Jones as Samuel Bowles

Jones is known for his roles as Danny Rand in 'Iron Fist' (2017-2018), Loras Tyrell in 'Game of Thrones' (2011-2016), Marin in 'The Last Showing' (2014) and Danny Rand in 'The Defenders' (2017). His recent works include 'Leatherface' (2017), 'Luke Cage' (2018), 'Iron Fist' (2017-2018), and of course the upcoming 'Dickinson' (2021). He has a release titled 'Awake' that is listed as completed and another release titled 'Swimming with Sharks' in post-production. Jones plays Sam Bowles — "an energetic and magnetic newspaper editor" — in the upcoming season of 'Dickinson'.

Pico Alexander as Henry 'Ship' Shipley

Alexander is known for his roles as Elias Morales in 'A Most Violent Year' (2014), Harry in 'Home Again' (2017), Clevinger in 'Catch-22' (2019) and Trey Wandella in 'War Machine' (2017). His most recent roles include 'Summertime' (2018), 'Red Dead Redemption II' the video game, and the TV mini-series 'Catch-22'. He is also set to play the role of Rober in a release titled 'Superior' (2021) that is listed as completed. In December 2019, it was announced that Alexander will be cast as Henry “Ship” Shipley, an "Amherst College dropout and boarder of the Dickinson's".

Ayo Edebiri as Hattie

Edebiri is a writer and an actress and is known for her works in 'Sunnyside' (2019), 'Hello, Goodbye and Everything in Between', 'It Was Sometimes Like This' (2017) and 'Cicada' (2020). Her other works include her role as Stacey in 'Defectives' (2014), Frances in 'Bigtop Burger' (2020), Emily in 'Shithouse' (2020), and Missy Foreman-Greenwald in 'Big Mouth' (2020-2022).

Kroll is known for his roles as the voice of Douche in 'Sausage Party' (2016), Gunter in 'Sing' (2016), Jake in 'Adult Beginners' (2014) and Ruxin in 'The League' (2009-2015). His recent works include 'Olympic Dreams' (2019), 'The Secret Life of Pets 2' (2019), 'The Addams Family' (2019), 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' (2020), 'What We Do In the Shadows' (2019-2020) and 'Big Mouth' (2017-2021). The actor has been nominated for two Primetime Emmys — one in 2020 for Outstanding Animated Program for 'Big Mouth' which he shared with his team members and another for the same category in 2019 which he also shared with his teammates.

Simons is known for his role as Jonah Ryan in 'Veep' (2012-2019), Agent Borderline in 'Inherent Vice' (2014), Marx in 'Draft Day' (2014) and Officer Stevens in 'Goosebumps' (2015). His recent works include 'Looking for Alaska' (2019), 'Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' (2018-2019), 'Robot Chicken' (2019), 'Briarpatch' (2020) and 'Day by Day' (2020). He also played Supersonic Stu in 'Big Hero 6: The Series' (2020) and a TSA agent in 'Bob's Burgers' (2020). He has two releases titled 'Shoot the Rooster' (2021) and 'Home Alone' in post-production and another release titled 'Don't Worry Darling' that is listed as filming.

Will Pullen as Nobody

Pullen is known for his works in 'Greyhound' (2020), Guy in 'Light' (2020), Todd in 'The Americans' (2015) and Mike in 'You Say Hello' (2019). His recent works includes 'Other people's people' (2016). He has a release titled 'Telling Time' that is in pre-production. The actor won a Clarence Derwent Award in 2017 for Best Supporting Male (USA) and in the year 2020, he was nominated for a Festival Award at the Lonely Wolf: London International Film Festival for Best 'Lockdown' Film for 'Light' which he shared with Daniel Talbott, Chris Bellant, Addie Johnson Talbott and Kip Kroeger. The same year he also won a Festival Award at the same festival for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for 'You Say Hello' (2019) and a July Award ar the Venice Film Awards for Best LGBTQ Film for 'Light', which he shared with both Talbotts, Bellant and Kroeger.

Season 2 of 'Dickinson' releases globally on Apple TV+ on January 8, 2021. The first three episodes will drop on the day of release and will be followed by a weekly episode on Fridays. The official Apple TV+ plot description for Season 2 reads: "Emily Dickinson is pulled out of her private literary life and thrust into the public eye, while struggling with the sense that the pursuit of fame might be a dangerous game for her to play."
