DAVIS COUNTY, UTAH: Nearly a year ago, slain Chase Allan's mother Diane Allan was pulled over by cops for a similar reason and body cam footage showed the pair responded to officers in a similar sly manner. Chase Allan, 25, was allegedly fatally shot 12 times by five police officers, during a traffic stop in Davis County, Utah, on March 1.

Farmington police stopped Chase over an illegitimate license plate of his blue BMW 3-Series until his lack of cooperation prompted police to force him out of his vehicle. “I don’t need registration and I don’t answer questions,” said Chase in his interrogation with his police. However, things quickly escalated when the 25-year-old refused to step out of the vehicle and when the police attempted to exit him, he had a gun on him which caused the officers to discharge their weapons. In a similar scenario, when Diane was pulled over by police she too refused to comply with the police orders.

'That’s not a probable cause!'

“What is your probable cause for stopping me?” Diane asked. “So, for the expired registration,” responded the officer. “That’s not a probable cause,” alleged Diane, reported ABC. In a shocking similarity, both the mother and son refused to provide their names and instead gave the officers their passports. “That is not me. That is a piece of plastic paper,” said Chase at the time of his interrogation. “So you have a fraudulent passport. Wonderful,” responded the officer to Chase's statement.

During Diane's interrogation, her officer phoned a colleague for guidance on how to handle the situation. “Is it worth pulling her out of her car and arresting her for failure to identify?” the officer asked. “No. Probably not,” said the colleague. Subsequently, the colleague recommended he ticket her for not having a driver’s license and expired vehicle registration. The dispatcher was able to identify Diane's information based on her passport which helped the officer understand that she has an actively concealed firearm permit.

Sovereign citizen

Notably, nearly 16 minutes later Diane reportedly received two tickets, adding up to roughly $100 in fines. But in the case of Chase, he was forced out of the vehicle and 5 minutes later he was shot 12 times. Diane filed a lawsuit against the officer in September 2022, claiming she is not under the jurisdiction of the city, state, or the US and that she is a sovereign citizen.
