‘Doesn't add up’: Detective who investigated Madeleine McCann case doubts Julia Wandelt’s claims of being missing girl
LONDON, ENGLAND: A private investigator, who led an investigation to find missing Madeleine McCann, is apparently questioning Julia Wandelt’s claims that she is indeed the British girl. The 21-year-old Wandelt, who has also been referred to as Julia Faustyna and Julia Wendell, garnered public attention after she created an Instagram account "iammadeleinemccann", with a profile description, "Help me, I need to talk with Kate and Gerry McCann", referring to McCann's parents.
The Polish woman has made around 50 posts on the handle with a million followers, comparing her physical features with those of the missing McCann, who was just three-year-old when she disappeared from her bed during a family vacation in 2007. Wandelt said that a German pedophile, who sexually assaulted her as a child, was the main suspect in her disappearance. She further asserted that McCann's parents consented to a DNA test to confirm that she was, in fact, their daughter, according to Mirror.

'It doesn't add up to me'
However, Francisco Marco, a private detective, and head of the Spanish agency Metodo 3, shot down Wandelt’s claims and said her story “doesn’t add up”. Marco was hired by the McCanns to lead the search for Maddie in the months after her disappearance. Talking about Wandelt’s claims, Marco told the Spanish newspaper El Independiente, "Without knowing the details in depth, it doesn't add up to me. I don't think it's her."
This came as a source close to the McCann family told the Daily Star Sunday that they are "willing to look at all leads". "The family are taking no chances, they are willing to look at all leads. It is important they look at all of the factors, the girl does look similar. There’s no disputing that,” the tipster revealed. "If what she says is true, there is every chance it could be her. It all adds up."
Why Julia Wandelt hired a police psychic?
Meanwhile, Wandelt has hired a police psychic, Dr Fia Johansson, to investigate her case after facing immense backlash from the public and her family. She recently revealed that her family, who raised her, called her a “horrible person” and shunned her because of her claims. "My grandma called me. She said that I'm a very bad person and that she doesn't want to meet me anymore. She started to shout at me,” Wandelt claimed in the post, which has garnered more than 507,000 views.
Wandelt continued by claiming that her family branded her "not normal" for giving "hope to the McCanns." "I asked her for a DNA test with her or with my parents and she will not take a DNA test with me and I can't say she has to do it," she claimed, adding that her family believed she was a “horrible person” and they "don't want to know her anymore." She also claimed that all this had badly affected her relationship with her partner. "I am alone. My boyfriend wants to leave me too - because of this case," she claimed.
