Who is Julia Wandelt?

Wandelt recently launched an Instagram account and compared similarities between herself and Madeleine, who went missing in Portugal where her family went for a vacation. Making the claims, Wandelt said, “I have a defect in my eye, in the same eye, the kind of defect Madeleine had. Except that in my case, it’s faded more and more every year. I remember practically nothing from my childhood."

Wandelt claimed that her family rarely discusses her childhood. She said, “During the therapy, I started to analyze a lot, reflect and ask a lot of uncomfortable questions to my family until at one point my mother couldn’t stand the barrage of questions and cut me off from therapy beginning in 2021. I do have a few memories. The earliest of these are vacations. But I completely don’t recall my mother being there, for example, or my stepfather, much less my dad."

“The family are taking no chances, they are willing to look at all leads. It is important they look at all of the factors, the girl does look similar. There’s no disputing that. If what she says is true, there is every chance it could be her. It all adds up," a source close to Madeleine's family told The Daily Star.

What happened to Madeleine McCann?

Madeleine, a 3-year-old from Leicestershire, England went missing on May 3, 2007, while she was on a family holiday. Madeleine and her siblings were put to bed after which their parents Kate and Getty went away for a meal across the street. In 2022, Christian Brückner a known sex predator was named the prime suspect in the case. He is currently missing and is yet to be charged.
