Destination Jam: Five songs from David Guetta that will make you want to get up and groove
As David Guetta fans may know, the Grammy-winning DJ is set to release his new EP 'New Rave' on July 17, which is a collaborative effort with Morten. But before we are treated to his new music, we'd like to share our favorite tracks and introduce you to this epic DJ. Check out our top five David Guetta songs below.
'Lovers On The Sun' ft Sam Martin
Our first entry today on Destination Jams has to be 'Lovers On The Sun'. With nearly two decades of music since his debut album, Guetta has become settled in not only producing good music but has gotten used to pouring out theatrically-styled music videos. Apart from the Hollywood-style theatrics of the music video (starring Ray Liotta as a beastly cowboy villain), the song stands out for its lyrics paired with powerful music. The ever-existing desire for pursuing romance and not letting anything or anyone getting in the way is something we all have fantasized about at least once in our lives, and 'Lovers On The Sun' pushes such a fantasy to even finding a romantic safe space on the sun.
'Titanium' ft Sia
One of Guetta's biggest hits, 'Titanium' features Sia and reinforces a similar need as the above to be unstoppable. With superhero-like themes the below music video sees a young boy being chased for having superpowers until he finally unleashes it all on trigger-happy cops. With lyrics like "I'm bulletproof nothing to lose. Fire away, fire away. Ricochet, you take your aim.Fire away, fire away. You shoot me down but I won't fall, I am titanium" in the chorus, the song is filled with empowerment and a sense of strength certainly empowers its listeners. Its inspirational nature has even extended to artists of other genres: with a cover by the symphonic metal group Within Temptation.
'Shot Me Down' ft Skylar Grey
Guetta is notably talented in his mixing abilities. In this track, Guetta takes one of Cher's biggest-selling singles of the '60s and turns it into an explosive dance frenzy. The original had seen its fair share of covers already, with the most notable being a Nancy Sinatra rendition, but Guetta's version is awfully catchy.
'The Alphabeat'
For dance lovers who prefer to listen to electronically-charged music, 'The Alphabeat' has Guetta taking all the synth, the digital effects and cranking them up to high-octane levels. With no featured singers on this one, 'The Alphabeat' fits best as a track to lose your mind to on the dancefloor.
'She Wolf (Falling To Pieces)' ft Sia
Yes, this is the second track with Sia as a featured singer, but we couldn't pass this one up. Guetta is not just a DJ who knows how to produce a catchy tune but has proven time and again that he works really well with his collaborative partners. With songs like 'She Wolf (Falling To Pieces)', you will notice that Guetta knows when to take a step back with layers or over-enthusiasm and instead use his music to highlight the vocals of his guest. On this track, Sia's vocals are bone-chilling, haunting and enchanting and Guetta's instrumental melodies only accentuate it, but when it's time to let loose and drop the beat, Guetta makes sure you feel it.
Destination Jam is a daily list of songs that will keep you entertained and grooving up top in lieu of feeling drained and losing the plot. Look out for a fresh selection of great tunes from MEAWW to refresh your mood every day!
