We all have the one, our favorite cartoon, the one we grew up watching. The excitement that came with flicking channels in time for our favorite animated show was especially thrilling when we heard the first few bars of its theme music. Today's Destination Jam is dedicated to that same feeling with our top five picks of animated themes things we loved growing up, '90s kids edition.

'DuckTales'

Probably the catchiest of them all, the theme song for Disney's ode to Scrooge McDuck was probably special at the time to kids for individual reasons, but listening to it now is purely a nostalgic trip.

The show has been rebooted and kids today are probably building up memories of their own with its opening song, but we have to remember one of the best cartoons that inspired the multitude that exist today. With many throwback lists for old cartoons, Disney themselves have recognized the international love for 'DuckTales' and have included the theme on their official YouTube. Watch it below.

'Darkwing Duck'

It's duck appreciation day today on our Destination Jam playlist and we couldn't help but include this '90s-slick theme song. The 'Darkwing Duck' series presented darker energies but remained light enough to not send any kids hiding for cover under their blankets.

Watch it here.

'Pinky and the Brain'

Ah, sarcasm and goofiness, two traits that don't make a good pair, but this classic cartoon managed to blend the personalities with its two main characters. The wit of two mice who try to take over the world is perfectly captured by this villainous theme song. Looking back at it, the characters are adorable, but as kids, it was nothing but humorous.

'BraveStarr'

You ever get that feeling that something can get so cheesy that it becomes catchy. That sense of cheesiness you feel when you hear an awkward song for the first time is not easily forgotten. Perhaps its catchiness lies in the looking back and recalling the old feelings of weird-ass nonsense poking on your humor bones. The protagonist of this '90s series is announced by a narrator as having "Eyes of the hawk, ears of the wolf" and "Strength of the bear, speed of the puma" and you know by the time you reach the third description that laughter is inevitable. Oh, and "BRAVESTARR!" is belted out repeatedly in this track too.

'Captain Planet'

Following similar footsteps to the animated ancestor of cheese He-Man, this superhero has to make his way on today's list as well. Captain Planet fights crime against colorful villains and recruits a group of grinning teenagers to rid the world of pollution and environmental issues. Before the bizarre year of 2020 and the increasing climate change crisis, such topics weren't deemed so serious by kids back when this series aired for the first time. But, seriously, with your buttery, radio-friendly voice and wrestlemania-inspired attire, we are left to ask, where are you now, Captain Planet?

Destination Jam is a daily list of songs that will keep you entertained and grooving up top in lieu of feeling drained and losing the plot. Look out for a fresh selection of great tunes from MEAWW to refresh your mood every day!
