Grammy-nominated pop singer Demi Lovato will perform the national anthem at the Super Bowl. NFL and Fox on Thursday announced the performance, which will take place ahead of the big game on February 2 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will headline the halftime show. Lovato has mostly taken a break from the public since focusing on her recovery after reportedly overdosing in July 2018.

The singer, who has spoken about her struggles with an eating disorder, self-mutilation, drugs and alcohol, celebrated six years of sobriety in March 2018. But she relapsed, revealing the news in the song 'Sober', released in June 2018.

Fans of Lovato have been rooting for the 'Confident' American singer on their own dedicated Twitter fanbase channel with encouraging comments like, "These days I'm not feeling okay, but I know I'm a skyscraper and you too. Stay Strong" and "This channel is made of love and dedication for our queen Demi. We are with her no matter what".

Lovato has pulled out a number of hits during her enduring rise to fame, namely, 'Skyscraper', 'Cool for the Summer', 'Fix a Heart' and many more. She has received an astounding number of nominations and awards, included with Grammy and Billboard nominations are ALMA's Favorite Female Music Artist in 2012 and Favorite Social Artist in 2018.

She has won awards including Most Performed Songs under the ASCAP Pop Music Awards and the Rulebreaker Award under Billboard Women in Music. The highly-anticipated sporting event, Super Bowl, the game that crowns its NFL champion each year has seen many a super celebrity bringing their vocal performances on the National Anthem, such as Beyoncé, Aretha Franklin and Diana Ross, to name a few.

Lovato entering the arena on her performance of the anthem this year already sees the singer receiving much support and encouragement. A week before the Super Bowl, Lovato will perform at the 2020 Grammy Awards on January 26.
