'Downgrade': Dell Curry mocked after he brings ‘girlfriend’ to NBA Finals after split from Sonya

Though Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Friday, June 10, was quite exciting, it was Stephen Curry’s father Dell and his alleged new girlfriend who stole the show. The appearance came after it was reported that Dell and his former wife Sonya, had divorced after being married for over three decades. The split was acrimonious with each accusing the other of infidelity in their divorce papers.

Sonya had alleged that the 57-year-old former professional basketball player was engaged in “illicit sexual misconduct” with multiple women during their relationship. But Dell accused her of cheating with Steven Johnson, en ex-tight end with the New England Patriots. He also went on to claim that the 56-year-old educator “had been living with Johnson, 56, at his 11,674-square foot residence in Bristol, Tennessee, since she and Dell Curry separated in March 2020” — a claim that Sonya refuted.

In August 2021, when the two announced they were ending their marriage, they told PEOPLE, “After exploring a trial separation over the past year and much thoughtful consideration, we have decided to end our marriage. As this comes with a great deal of sadness, our focus and desire is for our family's continued happiness. We are so thankful for all the many blessings and successes! We stay committed to and supportive of our children and grandchildren and will remain on connected paths. We ask that our privacy be respected and prayer for our family as we move forward.”

Meanwhile, Dell showing up with a mysterious woman at Game 4, the Golden State Warriors' pivotal game, has attracted a number of eyeballs online, mostly mocking the alleged "love birds". A user sarcastically tweeted: “Why Dell Curry’s new boo and Sonia’s new man look like they used to be married to each other?😂😂😂” The second user commented, Damn Dell Curry hugged up with Marjorie Taylor Greene.” “How you downgrade post divorce as a rich dude 😵‍💫,” the third user slammed.
