As Stephen Curry's parents head for divorce, Steph's father Dell Curry has accused his estranged wife Sonya of cheating on him with ex-NFL player Steven Johnson. According to court documents related to the couple's divorce, the 58-year-old former NBA player said that Sonya, 55, had misled him about her relationship with 56-year-old Johnson.

Sonya "began her extramarital affair with Mr. Johnson during the marriage and prior to the date of separation" in March 2020, Dell's legal team reportedly stated in the papers filed. Dell's lawyers added that Sonya "lied to [Dell] each time she cheated on him." As a result, Dell claimed that Sonya should not be eligible for alimony, as she's currently living with Johnson in Tennessee.

Sonya, who was the one who filed for divorce on June 14 in North Carolina, claiming "marital misconduct" on Dell's part, has admitted to dating a man in the "months after" she and her soon-to-be ex-husband separated, but denied living with him. She said that Dell would not let her stay in the family home following their split and as a result, she lives on her own. Additionally, she has claimed that Dell has had multiple affairs that were known by family and friends. She said that she did not want to publicly reveal information about Dell's cheating "in one final act of trying to protect [him] and family from possible public exposure and scrutiny." However, she "was left with no choice" but to reveal his infidelity after he accused her of being unfaithful.

Speaking to People magazine on Monday, August 23, the estranged couple said in a joint statement after news of their impending divorce broke in the media: "After exploring a trial separation over the past year and much thoughtful consideration, we have decided to end our marriage. As this comes with a great deal of sadness, our focus and desire is for our family's continued happiness. We are so thankful for all the many blessings and successes! We stay committed to and supportive of our children and grandchildren and will remain on connected paths. We ask that our privacy be respected and prayer for our family as we move forward."
