Who is Linda Greenlaw?

Linda Greenlaw is a 62-year-old Connecticut native. But Linda was raised in Topsham, Maine. While growing up, she used to spend her summers in Isle Au Haut, a village of 70 people off the coast of Maine. Linda started working at a very early age in order to pay for her college. She started working as a cook and a deckhand. She continued working on the boat even after graduation and was later appointed as swordfish captain in 1986.

Besides being a swordfish captain, Linda is also a best-selling author of maritime books named 'The Perfect Storm,' 'The Hungary Ocean,' 'The Lobster Chronicles,' and 'All Fishermen Are Liars.' She wrote in 'The Hungary Ocean,' "Being a woman hasn't been a big deal. I never anticipated problems stemming from being female and never encountered any. I have been surprised, even embarrassed, by the number of people who are genuinely amazed that a woman might be capable of running a fishing boat."

Linda Greenlaw does not find transition to crab fishing difficult

Linda detailed her experience of transitioning from the fishing of swordfish and lobster to crab fishing in an interview with Spectrum News. She said, "Transitioning to the crab fishery was not too difficult for me." She has been involved in offshore red crab fisheries since she was a kid. The only difference was in fishing swordfish, lobsters, and crabs, which are mentioned as "hauling single, massive pots as opposed to trawls of smaller traps." She claimed, "Finding crab was the biggest challenge. This was my first experience with Bairdi crab and also my first trip on the Bering Sea."

Furthermore, Linda is excited about Season 19 of the show. The swordfish captain says, "Filming of Deadliest Catch was more scripted than 'Swords: Life on the Line'." Linda is indeed all set to bring her 40 years of experience to the show.

'Deadliest Catch' Season 19 premieres on April 18 at 8 pm ET on Discovery Channel.
