'Deadliest Catch' Season 16 Episode 19: Jake needs to rename the boat to get rid of 'bad juju', say fans

It was another stressful episode for viewers as there was the usual problem of engine failure, lights switching off on the Lady Alaska and people getting hit with a coiler

It was a stressful episode for fans as they watched the latest of 'Deadliest Catch'. The synopsis itself had given enough to worry about: "A rare weather event churns up rogue waves as supermoon tides collide with a cyclonic snowstorm. Josh and Casey face a 55-foot monster, while Jake risks capsizing to repair his rudder in unruly seas. Monte's big move north pays off in massive pots...."

And indeed, there was the usual problem of engine failure, lights switching off on the Lady Alaska and people getting hit with a coiler. But it's common knowledge — if you're at sea to hunt for crabs, there's a price to pay and it usually comes in the form of deadly injuries. The good thing is, the crew members get a bucketload of crabs at the end of episode, so it does relieve the tension we're sure.

Fans praised the episode and tweeted, "Tonight's episode of #DeadliestCatch may have been the best hour in the history of the series. Masterful photography and Mike Rowe narration combined for an hour worth holding in the DVR for play every once in awhile. Saga, Cornelia Marie and Wizard against the crushing sea," one tweeted.

"The Bering Sea giveth. And the Bering Sea taketh," a fan noted.

Others noted that Jake should just rename the boat and 'get rid' of the bad luck it brings. "I have always said that @JakeVAnderson needs to dename and rename the boat to get rid of the bad juju. #DeadliestCatch," a fan noted.

"Before I stopped watching this show a few years ago, I constantly said that the Saga still had the shadow of he who shall not be named. I've always thought that shadow had a lingering effect of bad luck that still hangs over the boat. #DeadliestCatch," another fan echoed a similar sentiment.

"I know things like this add to the excitement of the show, but it's scary when something goes seriously wrong with the boat @JakeVAnderson #DeadliestCatch," a fan noted.

Others wondered why Monte Colburn, captain of The Wizard, took a gamble with the ice edge in the episode. "Seriously, @MonteColburnDC? With all the trouble ice has caused people over the years (and on this show), you're really going to gamble on the frozen edge? I don't even think Captain Phil Harris would take that kind of risk. #DeadliestCatch," another wrote.

'Deadliest Catch' airs on Discovery Channel on Tuesdays at 8 pm.
