Why was DDG arrested? Rapper, 24, was cruising in Lamborghini before cops pulled him over

Other hip-hop artists such as Polo G, Bandman Kevo, and 9lokkNine too made it to the news for being arrested in the last few months

Rapper DDG, who is best known for his songs like ‘Elon Musk’, and ‘Rucci’, got arrested on Monday, June 6. The Michigan native, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., was taken into custody around 9:30 p.m. PST. According to a report published by XXL, the YouTuber turned rapper was booked into the Van Nuys Jail a couple of hours later.

Speaking of rappers getting arrested, hip-hop artist Paper Lovee was arrested by Atlanta Police for his alleged involvement in a shooting at a convenience store. Another rapper, SpotemGottem, also came under the radar of the Dallas Police Department in August 2021 for his suspected relation to a murder. Other hip-hop artists such as Polo G, Bandman Kevo, and 9lokkNine too made it to the news for being arrested.

Why was rapper DDG arrested?

DDG was arrested after he went cruising in his Lamborghini. TMZ reported that the 24-year-old hip-hop artist was pulled over for reckless driving. When cops started searching the vehicle, they ended up finding a gun leading to his arrest for felony possession of a concealed weapon. DDG was, however, later released on a bond after paying $35K in bond. According to multiple reports, DDG’s next court date has been scheduled for June 28.
 
DDG stepped into the world of entertainment while studying at Central Michigan University. He later dropped out for what he started pocketing $30K per month as a Youtuber. His early music included a diss track on Lil Yachty, titled 'Big Boat'. In 2016, he released two songs namely 'Balenciagas' and 'Free Parties'- both produced by Zaytoven. His discography currently includes his 2019 debut studio LP 'VALEDICTORIAN', and two EPs: 'Take Me Serious' and 'Sorry 4 the Hold Up'.

‘Don’t free him’, says Twitter

Social media users were quick to react to DDG’s arrest as one of the users wondered, “Why do rappers do this to themselves?” as another posted, “Bro just wanted a rapper mug shot.” The next one added, “Don’t free him” as another mentioned, “DDG got arrested on a felony? he’s deffo gonna rap about this over a suite life of zack and cody beat.” One individual posted, “Now what did DDG do for him to get arrested? He’s out already I heard.” Whereas, another shared, “People joking around saying they’re the feds since both ddg and gunna were arrested.” And, one concluded, “DDG is the last person I expected to be arrested.”
