LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Dwayne Johnson had taken DC fans by storm when he managed to get Henry Cavill as the Kryptonian superhero in 'Black Adam'. However, Johnson was appointed to act as an advisor for Warner Bros. Discovery, unfortunately it didn't last as long as the 'Black Adam' star thought it would. 'Black Adam' opened in late October, opening to 67 million dollars en route to 168.1 million dollars domestic and 391.5 million dollars worldwide, from an original budget of 195 million dollars, which didn't include another 40 million dollars for reshoots.

However, it has been confirmed that Johnson's 'Black Adam' will not be returning for a sequel as it is not fitting for James Gunn's future plans for the DC Studios. Apparently, Johnson suggested many sprawling ideas for 'Black Adam's future in the DC Extended Universe to the Warner Bros. Discovery head, conceivably it didn't sit well with many of the studio members of DC.

Ezra Miller may continue as 'The Flash' in the new DC Universe

According to Variety, Dwayne Johnson pitched the recommendation to WB head, David Zaslav shortly after the WB merger closed. Apparently, the move was not well-received. As per the source, "Johnson went around everyone, which didn’t sit well.” In fact, the outlet also revealed that the blueprint allegedly led to a 'Superman' vs 'Black Adam' showdown.

Interestingly, the news comes months after a media report alleged that Johnson aka Rock took a similar approach in order to get the green light for Cavill’s mid-credits cameo in 'Black Adam'. The similar report claimed that Hamada had turned down his proposal for a 'Superman' cameo, so he decided to approach Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy with the same plan in July 2022, soon after they took over the leadership. Johnson also reportedly demanded a tequila bar featuring his own Teremana brand for the New York City premiere of 'Black Adam'. 'His demands increased and the returns just weren’t there,' another source said of Johnson.

Regardless, the studio has four DC movies debuting in 2023 - 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods' (March 17), 'The Flash' (June 16), 'Blue Beetle' (August 18) and lastly, 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' (December 25).
