'Black Adam' was one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year. Warner Brother Pictures along with DCEU went through massive losses this year but 'Black Adam' seems like a silver lining after it got raving reviews from critics.

It is produced by New Line Cinema, DC Films, Seven Bucks Productions, and FlynnPictureCo. The film is a spin-off from 'Shazam!' (2019) and the 11th film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The project is helmed by Jaume Collet-Serra and written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani, while the film stars Dwayne Johnson as the titular character alongside Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, Bodhi Sabongui, and Pierce Brosnan and has a special cameo by Henry Cavil as Superman.

In United States and Canada, 'Black Adam' will be released alongside 'Ticket to Paradise,' and is projected to gross between $70 to 75 million in its opening weekend, and will be Johnson's best opening weekend outside of the 'Fast & Furious' franchise. However, 'Black Adam' had its world premiere in Mexico City on October 3, and is scheduled to be released in the United States on October 21, 2022 by Warner Bros Pictures.

'Black Adam': Who is Aldis Hodge's Hawkman?

After watching the movie, critics and fans passed their judgments; while some were a little negative, most showered love on the new DCEU movie. Here's what the critics had to say.

A critic wrote, "DC’s #BlackAdam ROCKS! Tons of action, characters you’re instantly invested in & terrific pacing. Dwayne Johnson finds a great balance between being menacing & badass, but also empathetic. Especially loved Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman & Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate. More JSA movies please!"

Another added, "#BlackAdam is a game-changer!! This is the #DCComics movie I’ve been waiting for & it did not disappoint. @TheRock
is electrifyingly brutal as Black Adam! This is what I wanted Black Adam to be. The action in the film is non-stop & seeing the #JSA on the big screen was a thrill."

A critic said, "#BlackAdam is a role @TheRock just thrives in. He’s the ultimate bad-a** as Teth-Adam and the thought of him crossing over with other heroes and villains after this one is awesome."

Another added, "#BlackAdam is a solid crowd-pleaser. Lots of spectacle and humor while also actually embracing the DCEU and setting up something very exciting for its future. It doesn’t pull many surprises and feels very familiar at times, but it’s definitely enjoyable popcorn entertainment."

A critic mentioned, "Black Adam is everything that I hoped it would be and more. A Snyder-esque antihero spectacle that delivers big action and impressive set pieces. Dwayne Johnson transforms into Black Adam, a role that he was born to play. Centineo & Swindell are so damn fun to watch. #BlackAdam," while another added, "Have seen #BlackAdam. @TheRock is fantastic as Black Adam. He spent 10 years getting ready for this role and he literally kills anyone and everyone in his way and I loved that he didn't pull back on who Black Adam is. Left the theater wanting to see the sequel immediately."
