REYKJAVIK, ICELAND: Damian Lewis had to camp inside an airport like thousand of other passengers while visiting Iceland. As per several media outlets, the ‘Billions’ star was forced to stay at the Keflavik International Airport due to severe weather conditions that made it impossible for travelers to get to nearby hotels and other places. All flights were called off and roads were blocked. However, one fan made most of these difficult times after spotting the actor among co-passengers stranded at the airport.

"I saw him at baggage claim once we all found out we were really stranded at the airport (taxis and buses to the city were pretty much out of the question)," wrote Caroline Rose while sharing pictures with Lewis on her Twitter account. She referred to the moment with the popular actor as "brief but nice" and said, "I mentioned my fiancee and I enjoyed his work and he wished me good luck with my travels. I asked for a quick photo, given that was pretty much the only silver lining of an otherwise nightmarish night of travel issues. He was incredibly kind!" Caroline gave an update from the airport where they were stuck for over a day before severe "flight delays and cancelations". Her tweet read, “Scenes from Iceland after a day and a half of @Icelandair flight delays and cancelations that have stranded hundreds at Keflavik. People slept on check-in baggage belts, escalator steps, luggage carts. BTW Damian Lewis was stuck here too and it was awesome.”

Later, Lewis’ representative told People that the 'Homeland' alum was now safely back in the UK. Another fan shared photographs of dozens of people standing inside the airport, and wrote, "Finally have something in common with @lewis_damian, we are stuck at #KEF with thousand of stranded travelers. Roads closed, flights cancelled."

The Icelandic Meteorological Office had made an official announcement warning the countrymen not to travel since the "roads were considered dangerous", according to NBC News.

The same was confirmed by Gisli Olafsson, one of the MPs in Iceland, who informed that the nation’s Red Cross had set up shelters for stranded travelers. He tweeted, “Yesterday evening 20+ busloads of passengers who had been stuck at @kefairport for over 24-36 hours made it to Reykjavik, some after being in the busses for over 12 hours! The @raudikrossinn (Red Cross) has opened up a number of shelters for people stuck due to weather.”

Becky, who was stuck with other passengers, said, "We found a couple of luggage carts and used them as a chair. I have never appreciated all the things I normally take for granted so much in my life. We were stranded with no real food, just overpriced snacks and a floor to sleep on."
