'Deepthroat' rapper Cupcakke seems to have landed herself in deep trouble, after her recent comments on social media that female rap just isn't very good. The Chicago-based rapper, singer and songwriter is known for her hyper-sexualized persona and her biggest hits 'Deepthroat' and 'Vagina'. Cupcakke's debut 'Cum Cake' was included on Rolling Stone's list of the Best Rap Albums of 2016 at number 23.

While she has often included the theme of female empowerment in her music, her recent tweets on social media, hailing herself as a groundbreaker for female rap, has fans furious about what they believe is disrespectful towards female rap icons like Trina, Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj.

The Chicago-based rapper recently tweeted, "If I'm being honest with y'all . Female rap is really boring to me right now".

But it wasn't this tweet, as much as the one that followed that had rap fans outraged. Cupcakke tweeted in a rather self aggrandizing manner about her song 'Deepthroat' saying, "Deepthroat paved the way for you hoes to talk how y'all talk . Y'all hoes use to be scared to even say y'all sucked dick before Deepthroat came out . To this day it's the blue print & is god creation to mankind' now . Stop tryna play me like I ain't open doors for the girls"

Rap fans responded incredulously, that Cupcakke seems to have forgotten the contributions to rap made by artists such as Trina and Lil Kim. One fan tweeted, "Lil Kim, Trina, and Nicki Minaj EXIST YA KNOW?????"

Another echoed the sentiment asking Cupcakke, "trina don’t exist anymore??" But while Trina may have been the focus of most of the comments, it was a whole host of other artists also, that fans felt were disrespected. One fan said, "Trina, Lil Kim, Khia, Foxy Brown, BWP, Gangsta Boo, H.W.A., La Chat, Lady (Yankin’), even Salt-N-Pepa....yet CupcakKe thinks she paved the way of explicit lyrics for female rappers??" Some however felt that Cupcakke had a point. One fan tweeted, "Everyone wanna paint Cupcakke to be bitter and hatin on other females but that aint my girl, she always gon support & show love when she want, but she has the right to an opinion on the state of female rap & rap in general."

Another tweeted, "She’s right!! I would like to add *for this generation and the level of explicitness. Yes Trina, Lil Kim, etc. were explicit but no one in the 2010’s was rapping like that UNTIL CUPCAKKE PERIOD." In the meantime, it seems with these comments Cupcakke has herself firmly in the spotlight, perfect timing for the release of a music video for her new single 'Mickey'.
