Grammys 2020: Willie Nelson takes home Best Country Solo Performance award for 'Ride Me Back Home'

He has won a total of 10 Grammys and a staggering 52 nominations since 1975

The award for Best Country Solo Performance goes to Willie Nelson for his song 'Ride Me Back Home'. This was his 69th solo studio album released in 2019 by the same name.

Host Luis Fonsi accepted the award on Nelson's behalf as he did not attend the ceremony. Nelson won his first Grammy in1975 for Best Male Country Vocal Performance for his song 'Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain' from the album 'Red Headed Stranger'. He has won a total of 10 Grammys and a staggering 52 nominations since then. His most recent Grammy win was in 2019 for his album 'My Way' under the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category.

In 2000, he was honored with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to music. He won the Grammy Legend Award in 1990, and in 1986 he was honored with the President's Merit Award. He has achieved an extensive list of awards during his musical career from CMA Awards, American Music Awards, CMT awards to Rolling Stone award.

Originally called the Gramophone Awards, the ceremony was established in 1958. The Grammy Award for Best Country Solo Performance is an award presented at the Grammy Awards. The award combines previous categories for Best Female Country Vocal Performance, Best Male Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Instrumental Performance for instrumental solo performance.
