Need a break from all the distressing news these days along with a solid boost of optimistic energy while confined within the walls of our homes during the coronavirus pandemic? It's easy to believe we all could all do with a dose of happiness in these trying times and while missing our loved ones amid social distancing. We have put together a list of five songs that will give you just that. Check out our list below.

Radiohead - 'Optimistic'

Yes, Radiohead isn't always the first band that comes to mind when trying to muster joyful energies, but 'Optimistic' goes first on our list as a perfect transitioning song from sadness to happiness. Unlike most of Radiohead's darker, melancholic numbers, 'Optimistic' certainly adopts hopeful tones, with strong guitar riffs, a powerful tom groove on the drums and frontman Thom Yorke guiding defeated souls with lyrics that go, "If you try the best you can. The best you can is good enough".

Billy Talent - 'Red Flag'

Now that you're optimistic, a power punch to the gut of pure energy is a mandate to get you started on your pursuit of happiness. Billy Talent's 'Red Flag' comes in high doses of musical energies. The song is cocky, to say the least, with high-speed punk drumming, twangingly sharp guitar strumming à la Arctic Monkeys, and frontman Benjamin Kowalewicz belting out the vocals. It's also fitting that the official music video opens with kids chanting: "We want out! We want out!"

Alice Merton - 'No Roots'

Alice Merton is a German-Canadian-British singer and songwriter who broke into mainstream success for 'No Roots' which released in Europe first in 2016 and later in the US early 2017. In one of the catchiest electropop numbers of the past few years, 'No Roots' is a complete package with gloriously funky drumming, bass, and guitar in a perfect musical union while Merton sings, "I've got no roots, but my home was never on the ground".

Pharrell Williams - 'Happy'

What better way to feel lifted than one of Pharrell Williams' most pleasant and feel-good tracks 'Happy'. Listening to this track should be paired with its official music video, which showcases numerous locations, city streets, sidewalks, bridges and many more as a wide variety of people gyrate like they just don't care! Verse 2 describes it well. "Here come bad news, talking this and that. (Yeah) Well, give me all you got, and don't hold it back. (Yeah) Well, I should probably warn you I'll be just fine. (Yeah) No offense to you, don't waste your time. Here's why" sings Williams before the chorus begins with "Because I'm happy".

LMFAO ft Lauren Bennett, GoonRock - 'Party Rock Anthem'

The magnificent dance track features Lauren Bennett (best known for girl groups GRL and Paradiso Girls) and American producer, singer, rapper GoonRock. The official music video opens in a completely empty city in a sort of post-apocalyptic timeline. Shortly after the LMFAO duo Redfoo and SkyBlu are warned of a highly contagious ailment called "shuffling", we see various dancers begin to pour out into the streets in dance — a type of infectious zombie dance apocalypse with nothing but good vibes and some seriously skilled shuffle dancing. LMFAO released 'Party Rock Anthem' as the first single from their second album 'Sorry for Party Rocking' in 2011 and the world has been "shufflin'" since.
