Netflix's ‘Cooked With Cannabis’: Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about the innovative cooking show

The culinary world is so expansive that it offers limitless possibilities of creating innovative dishes using ingredients that we know, that we don’t, and sometimes, things that we don’t expect. Cannabis is one such highly potent herb that has myriad uses above and beyond its recreational objectives. The age-old plant has also been known to have culinary uses. The all-new cooking competition on Netflix is going to explore masterful recipes using THC infusions and CBD sauces. Watch out for this stimulating gastronomic experience.

Release date

‘Cooked with Cannabis’ is all set to drop on Netflix on April 20, 2020, as this year’s 4/20 celebration.

Plot

The six-episode series follows the design of any standard cooking competition, where professional chefs contest against each other to cook up meals based on various themes but using Cannabis as the focus ingredient. The show will feature three professional chefs who will work against the clock and create a three-course meal for the judges to pick their favorites and declare a winner, who will take home a cash prize of $10,000. Each meal will have a unique theme and is aimed at bringing out the best culinary usage of cannabis.

Hosts

The competition is hosted by singer, chef and cookbook author, Kelis, along with Portland-based chef Leather Storrs.

Kelis Rogers is a New York-born singer, popularly known as Kelis, who shot to fame with her “Milkshake” and ventured into fine cuisine. Trained at Le Cordon Blue, Rogers also runs a pop-up restaurant and penned the culinary autobiography, “My Life on a Plate: Recipes From Around the World".

Kelis and Storrs will be joined by celebrity guests talk show host Ricki Lake, actress Mary Lynn Rajskub and rappers Too $hort and El-P, who get to sample each course, and will help select each episode's winner.

Showrunner

The series is produced by David Broome, Yong Yam and former NBC chairman Jeff Gaspin for Netflix.
